More about Charli XCX's recent recognition

Charli XCX has gained massive recognition with the release of her album Brat on June 7, 2024. Her album created the trend; "Brat Girl Summer" by social media users and influencers, using the word to define a carefree and rebellious lifestyle. The trend took off when Charli XCX took to X during the 2024 U.S. Presidential Race and stated, "Kamala IS brat."

While speaking to Resident Advisor in July 2024, Charli mentioned that she felt personally passionate about Brat,

"Brat is very confrontational and aggressive, and the lyrics are sort of life texts that I would send to my friends. I see it as being quite brutalist."

The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and is the singer's highest-selling U.S. album ever. On November 22, the artist announced a quick run of arena concerts for her Brat album, including shows from April 22 to May 1 with stops in Austin, Minneapolis, Rosemont, Illinois, and two nights at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

Brat debuted at No. 2 on the UK Albums chart and was one of the best-reviewed albums by critics. Brat received a 95/100 on Metacritic, a site that aggregates reviews from different publications and calculates an average. As per the NY Times, the album is the singer's breakthrough with its "raw honesty" in its lyrics that looks into her innermost insecurities. As per Launchmetrics, since the release of Brat, it has generated $22.5 million in Media Impact Value.

The album's lime-green art and simple texts are inspired by the 2000s English rave scene and the word was being used all over popular social media channels like TikTok and Instagram.
