A$AP Rocky has finally reached a new chapter in his fashion career. The rapper, long lauded for his boundary-pushing style and influence across music and society, has been chosen as Chanel's latest official ambassador, marking a new milestone for the Praise the Lord hitmaker and the French company.

The announcement came just ahead of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art 2026 showcase and follows months of rumors fuelled in part by Rocky’s recent public appearances in New York.

According to numerous sources, A$AP Rocky maintains a close relationship with Bottega Veneta before joining Chanel. Rocky is close with Chanel's current creative director, Matthieu Blazy, who was the former director for Bottega Veneta.

During Blazy’s earlier career at Bottega Veneta, Rocky appeared in campaigns, sat front row at events, and was one of the initial celebrities to support the direction Blazy developed for the brand. Their collaboration and cooperation helped reinforce Rocky’s status as a cultural tastemaker where luxury meets streetwear traditions.

Chanel names A$AP Rocky its newest ambassador

Chanel formally announced A$AP Rocky’s appointment at the end of November 2025, praising his influence on music, fashion, art and culture. The company hailed Rocky's “talent, curiosity, and limitless creativity,” characterizing him as an artist whose work spans music, movies and fashion, representing the modern, international attitude that they want to convey.

Speaking about collaborating with the rapper once again, Matthieu Blazy said:

“Rocky is an incredible artist who puts his heart and soul into every project he’s involved in, in addition to being an incredible human being. Musician, actor, father, friend… he brings so much to the table and always delivers with kindness. We are thrilled to welcome him to CHANEL and I’m thrilled to work together again.”

Similarly, Rocky echoed the same admiration for the artistic director emphasizing that Matthieu's "imagination is pushing fashion forward":

“Matthieu’s imagination is pushing fashion forward. His designs feel both sensitive and strong; they’re grounded in reality, but at the same time, always invite one to wonder. I’m so excited to see him at CHANEL.”

Chanel's teaser short film

Chanel announced Rocky's ambassadorship using a short film where even The Substance actress, Margaret Qualley, joined him, where she acted as his partner. The short movie was directed by Michel Gondry, and it was shot across New York City.

It starts inside their small flat in Williamsburg, and as it progresses, Rocky follows Qualley in her Chanel jacket and trousers across New York. Before meeting her at the Astor Place station entrance, he dashes through various neighborhoods, where Rocky drops to one knee and reveals a little white Chanel box.

As well as acting as an announcement of Rocky, it was also the teaser for the Métiers d’Art 2026 collection.

A$AP Rocky being the ambassador couldn't come at a better time for Chanel, as the company has been preparing to launch its new collection, Métiers d’Art 2026 collection. Along with Blazy, Rocky is set to expand its reach. Being the global influence he is, for his work in music, movies, fashion, art and culture, Rocky can connect the younger audiences to Chanel.
