Rock legend Gene Simmons, in a recent television interview with Maritsa Georgiou, a news anchor at Scripps News, surprised his fans and viewers and made them cringe when he tried to hit on her. Following the 76-year-old rock veteran's interview, the news anchor Maritsa Georgiou began trending on social media platforms. Gene Simmons, the bass guitarist of the legendary band Kiss and an influential figure in the music industry, on December 8, 2025, unexpectedly started to hit on Georgiou.
According to Maritsa Georgiou's LinkedIn profile, before working at Scripps News as a national correspondent and evening news anchor, she had worked at NBC Montana as an anchor, covering particularly political news and news related to the Coronavirus pandemic. While the newscaster, Georgiou, attended the University of Montana, from which she graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2007, she has also been the recipient of the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in TV Political Journalism in 2021.
As Martisa Georgiou has been working at Scripps News for over three years now, she has worked as an evening news anchor at NBC Montana for fifteen years, from 2006 to 2021. Besides her professional work, Maritsa has also been involved in volunteer work at YMCA Missoula Family, where she was a part of the Strategic Task Force Committee.
As the Scripps News anchor continues to trend online, rockstar Gene Simmons, who has been married to former Playmate and actress Shannon Tweed for fourteen years, with whom he shares two children, during his TV interview with Maritsa Georgiou, stopped her to ask if she was "modeling," leaving her dumbstruck while she was about to end the interview.
According to the Daily Mail, Gene Simmons, who was there on the news program to discuss his support for the American Music Fairness Act, said:
"By the way, are you still modeling?"
To which Maritsa responded:
"Modeling? I — I don't model, sir."
Simmons then added:
"Oh, I assumed...."
While Georgiou dealt with the whole situation quite smoothly, she ended the interview on a positive note.
Gene Simmons had a meeting with the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee

On December 9, 2025, Simmons met with the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee regarding the American Music Fairness Act, discussing that the bill could pass with support from senators belonging to both the Republican and Democratic parties. While he also predicted that the bill would eventually pass, Simmons said:
"We are going to pass this bill. It is bipartisan. You will do the will of the people because 70% of the United States of America in a recent poll said, "We want this injustice cured.'"
