On October 19, 2025, Adolf Silva met with an accident while racing in the red cliffs inside the Zion National Park, in Virgin, Utah, as part of the ongoing Red Bull Rampage. He is a Spanish freestyle BMX rider and freeride mountain biker.

According to The Independent, Silva, 28, was on his second run when he attempted a double backflip but crashed midway through. He fell downhill on the rocky surface and suffered a brain injury. In the wake of the crash, he was airlifted to a hospital in a rescue helicopter.

Later that day, Red Bull USA reported that Adolf Silva was:

“alert, conscious and talking to his loved ones.”

Two days later, the rider shared an image from the hospital bed with his wife, Taylor Mamola, by his side.

“After this first day in the hospital, I want to thank everyone for their thoughts overnight. I do have a lower back injury, and my focus is on my recovery. It’s great to have my family here and feel all the support from all of you guys. Thank you, Loco,” the post was captioned.

Adolf Silva also crashed during his first two runs at the annual freeride event, but escaped unhurt. He has appeared in the Red Bull Rampage over the years, including in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2024.

According to monsterenergy.com, Adolf Silva was born in Barcelona, Spain, on June 21, 1997. Nicknamed “Mountain Bike Wonder,” he is a BMX and freestyle mountain biker and a “fearless and accomplished adrenaline junkie.” Silva began biking when he was 7 and was later gifted a BMX bike by his grandmother.

At 16, he did his first successful double flip in front of Georg Fechter, who later offered him a spot on his show, Masters of Dirt. Adolf Silva has so far biked from the base to the summit of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and has won several international titles, including at the Red Bull Rampage and the Crankworx Series.

Earlier, he was in a coma for nearly a fortnight after an accident at Vans Kill the Line, but recovered and made a comeback. During a 2017 interview with MTB Mag titled “A Life Less Ordinary,” Silva shared:

“I can crash, of course. But I really don’t care. I like crashing, I don't know, I think it’s kinda fun.”

He also mentioned that when he wasn’t thinking about anything, he rode better.

“I just want to keep pushing and go as big as I can,” he added.

Adolf Silva has also contested in MODs in Vienna and Dark Fest. When he is not biking, he does skydiving, skateboarding, and surfing. During his debut Red Bull Rampage appearance in 2018, he won the People’s Choice Award, according to The Sun.

Adolf, who has 181K followers on Instagram, married Taylor Mamola in December 2024. They own a dog named Loco.

Notably, on Sunday, another mountain biker, Emil Johansson, also crashed during the same event while attempting a double tailwhip. He was airlifted to the hospital about an hour after Silva’s accident. Event organizers later confirmed that Johansson was “alert and responsive.”
