More about Béla Tarr’s partner Ágnes Hranitzky and their works

During the 1970s, Ágnes started working on Hungarian films as a film editor. A few years later, in 1981, Ágnes joined Tarr and edited his picture The Outsider.

Since The Outsider, Ágnes Hranitzky has edited every movie that Béla has made. Ágnes Hranitzky started receiving credit as a co-director on Tarr's movies in 2000 with the release of Werckmeister Harmonies.

In 2007, she co-directed The Man from London with Béla in the starring role. The Man From London made its Cannes Film Festival debut in competition that year.

The Turin Horse, which she co-directed once more, debuted at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival in 2011. The movie also won the Jury Grand Prix.

The Hungarian Filmmakers’ Association announced Béla Tarr’s passing “with deep sorrow,” acknowledging his significant impact on cinema and his artistic legacy that will continue to inspire filmmakers and audiences across the globe.
