Nick Reiner, who stands accused of murdering his parents Michele and Rob Reiner, is now being represented by defense attorney Alan Jackson.

People Magazine has reported that Jackson, who previously worked for the likes of Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Karen Read, confirmed to reporters early today that he was hired by Reiner as his legal counsel.

Outside the Los Angeles Superior Court, he disclosed that Reiner would not be showing up because he did not receive medical clearance. Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were found in their Los Angeles homes earlier this week with their throats slashed. Their daughter, Romy, was the one who found them.

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Alan Jackson recently scored Karen Read's acquittal for second-degree murder and manslaughter charges after her retrial. In the past, he represented Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey in their respective sexual assault cases.

He also previously worked as a former assistant head deputy for the major crimes division in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. During his stint there, he helped secure the murder conviction for Phil Spector.

Everything we know about Michele and Rob Reiner's murders as Nick Reiner gets taken into custody:

As of this writing, prosecutors have yet to decide on how they will be charging Nick Reiner, 32. He is currently detained in jail without bail, Boston 25 has reported, having been arrested hours after his parents' bodies were found. As of this writing, a motive for the killings has yet to be made clear.

A law enforcement official confirmed to the Associated Press that investigators are working on the presumption that Michele and Rob Reiner died from stabbings, though they did not reveal further details about the case.

“As a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide,” the LAPD said in a press release. “The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths.”

Rob Reiner was the son of the late comedic icon, Carl Reiner. He and his wife reportedly suffered “lacerations consistent with a knife,” an official confirmed to TMZ. There were also no signs of forced entry to their home.

Nick Reiner has long been vocal about his struggles with substance abuse, which also left him homeless for a while. He reportedly has over a dozen stints in rehab, and his story served as the loose inspiration for Being Charlie (2015), which he co-wrote. His father served as its director.
