As per a recent article by US Weekly, LA Dodgers Pitcher Alex Vesia has stepped away from playing for the team due to personal reasons.
The reason stated for his withdrawal is a "personal family matter," and comes ahead of the World Series. On October 23, Thursday Los Angeles Dodgers team broke the news on their Instagram account.
The team gave their best wishes to Alex and his wife, Kayla, who is currently pregnant. Alex started dating Kayla in April 2019, and the two got married on January 05, 2024.

Kayla Vesia and Alex Vesia got married in 2024. Alex proposed to Kayla near his hometown in San Diego at Marine Street Beach in La Jolla in November 2022.
When Alex proposed to Kayla, she shared the news on her Instagram, writing,
“I get to spend the rest of my life with Mi Bebe! 11-18-2022 holds a special place in my heart! I can’t wait to marry the love of my life.”
There are several other posts on her Instagram page celebrating their milestones.
"Happy One Year Anniversary Babe! ❤️ You are my best friend, my biggest supporter, and the love of my life!" she wrote as a tribute to the Dodgers star in honor of their anniversary.
Before marrying Vesia, Kayla's last name was Howard. The couple announced in April that they are pregnant.
Alex Vesia's withdrawal from the LA Dodgers
On October 23, 2025 LA Dodgers announced on their Instagram account that Alex Vesia will not be playing the World Series this time.
"It's with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter. The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family and we will provide an update at a later date.” Read the Instagram post
Alex Vesia has cited personal reasons for his withdrawal. Although the specifics of the private issue Alex and Kayla are dealing with were not made public, fans showered the Dodgers' Instagram account with good wishes in the comments.
Tanner Scott is one player being considered to replace Alex, but no final roster choices have been made, according to USA Today on Thursday.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated,
"I think right now, we're in the mode of trying to understand the process, the rules, a way that we could sort of try to navigate the roster. I think we have a little bit of time, 10:00 (a.m. ET on Friday) or something like that, to finalize our roster, but yeah, we're going through the process of trying to backfill his spot on the roster."
He went on, "Honestly ... I think we're just going day to day with really no expectations."
The Dodgers are getting ready to face the Toronto Blue Jays in Canada as the World Series gets underway on Friday, October 24.
