Alexis Roderick Joel, Billy Joel's wife, recently thanked his fans for all the support and understanding they have been showing. The singer, also known as Piano Man and hailed as one of the world's best selling music artists, was detected with a neurological condition called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus.

Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus is caused by a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain’s ventricles. The condition has the potential to compress brain tissue. Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus often leads to symptoms that resemble dementia.

Alexis Roderick Joel, shared an update on Instagram alongside a family photo. The picture featured the couple with their daughters, Della Rose and Remy Anne. In the caption, she expressed her gratitude for the public’s support:

“Thank you for the outpouring of love and support. We are so grateful for the wonderful care and swift diagnosis we received,” she wrote. “Bill is beloved by so many, and to us, he is a father and husband who is at the center of our world. We are hopeful for his recovery. We look forward to seeing you all in the future.”

According to a report by People, Billy Joel and Alexis Roderick first set eyes on each other in 2009. The couple had met at a restaurant back then. Alexis and Billy tied the knot in 2015, which marked Billy Joel's fourth marriage. The couple have now been together for almost a decade.

Alexis Roderick Joel is an accomplished equestrian

Before being known to the world as Billy Joel's wife, Alexis Roderick Joel had carved out a place for herself in the horseback riding world. She stayed connected to the sport through the United States Equestrian Federation, where she remains an active member.

In 2018, Alexis Roderick Joel was surprised with a meaningful gift by Billy. He gifted her a five-acre horse ranch in Wellington, Florida. The ranch was known for its strong equestrian community. The Daily Mail reported that the estate included a 12-stall barn, groom accommodations, a tack room, five paddocks, and a full-size dressage arena with mirrors. Over the years, Alexis rode mainly for enjoyment.

On July 4, 2015, what started as a backyard party at Billy Joel’s Oyster Bay estate turned into a surprise wedding. He and Alexis Roderick said ‘I do’ in front of stunned guests. Joel’s daughter Alexa gave the wedding speech, and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo officiated the ceremony. Roderick, pregnant at the time, wore a strapless ivory beaded dress. The celebration included a lavish menu and ended with fireworks and sky lanterns.

When Billy Joel planned a stop in Dublin for a concert at the Aviva Stadium in June 2018, the trip carried personal significance for his family. Speaking with the Belfast Telegraph, Alexis Roderick Joel highlighted their enthusiasm for exploring her Irish lineage and sharing the experience with their toddler, Della.

"I have Irish in me, It is my grandmother's father who is Irish. My mom's maiden name is Bridges," she told the outlet.
