More about Anne Burrell's husband, Stuart Claxton, as the network TV show host passes away
Anne Burrell and Stuart Claxton met on Bumble in 2018 and were together for seven years until her death on June 16. The couple got engaged in 2020 after two years of dating and married in 2021 in Burrell's hometown of Cazenovia, during a ceremony attended by their closest friends and family. In a 2020 interview with People Magazine, shortly after their engagement, Anne Burrell spoke about how meeting Stuart Claxton changed her views on marriage. She said:
"I don't know if we had both thought of marriage, but we both were like, 'Oh, yeah, this is something. This is really going to be real and this is going to turn into something.' Once you get to be a woman of 50 years old, you don't really think that marriage is going to be on the plate for you. I was always really focused on my career and marriage was never a huge thing in my life that I was looking for. Then when I met Stuart, my opinion about all that changed."
According to his LinkedIn profile, Stuart Claxton attended Swansea University, where he graduated in 1993 with a degree in Spanish and Philosophy. He later pursued a Master's in Media Management from the University of Stirling. Throughout his long and distinguished career, he has held several marketing roles at companies such as Guinness World Records and TIME Inc.
He then worked at Meredith Corporation as the Executive Director of Client Sourcing. His next role was at TeleviasUnivision, where he served from 2019 to 2023 as the Senior Director of Industry Marketing. Stuart Claxton is currently the Vice President of Marketing at NextUp, a position he has held since 2023.
Stuart Claxton, who was previously married—details of which have not been revealed—has one son, Javier Claxton, from that marriage. His son, who was the best man at his wedding to Anne Burrell, was born in the early 2000s, according to People Magazine. He shared a close bond with Anne Burrell, and the family was occasionally seen traveling together.
In an interview with People Magazine, Stuart Claxton fondly reflected on how seamlessly the plan for his proposal to Burrell fell into place. He said:
"I got the ring right before we left for Cazenovia [over a month and a half ago], when we didn't really know how long things were going to go on. But I'm very glad I did it."
He further added:
"I think some silver linings come out of this whole situation. If it wasn't happening, we wouldn't be up here with my family, and they would not have been involved in the way that they were."
Stuart Claxton, in another interview with People Magazine, gushed about his married life, saying:
"It's been wonderful, to say the least. Anne and I hadn't lived together before we moved in and got married, so it's been a whole adventure, but very lovely at the same time. We're still very much in love. Oh, thank God for that,"
Anne Burrell, who was fifty-five years old at the time of her death, is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton; her stepson, Javier Claxton; her children, Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas; her mother, Marlene; and her sister, Jane.
