Archie Lyndhurst was an English actor and designer who gained notoriety through his portrayal of Oliver Coulton, called Ollie, in the CBBC comedy series So Awkward. He was the son of movie actor Nicholas Lyndhurst and Lucy Smith. Archie started his career at a young age and he was known to possess a natural sense of humor and innovative thoughts.
He began his acting at the Sylvia Young Theatre School and proceeded to feature in various television programs. Archie has also closely collaborated with comedians such as Jack Whitehall, and frequently appeared in his productions as younger incarnations of his characters, such as Bad Education and Little Crackers. Off screen, they were friends, and he and Whitehall shared a mutual liking of comedy and fashion.
In September 2020, at the age of 19, Archie Lyndhurst died of acute lymphoblastic leukemia caused by brain hemorrhage. His demise was very tough on his family, friends, and workmates. He was well known because of his appearance in So Awkward, a CBBC sitcom which trailed a gang of adolescents coping with day to day school life. The series was aired between 2015-2020 and introduced Archie to the younger audience. Archie had other creative interests besides his work in television. He began a streetwear clothing line known as Fated to Pretend. His affection to skateboarding and urban style influenced his designs. His creative interest to reveal himself in something other than acting was reflected in the brand.
Jack Whitehall’s tribute and posthumous project
Jack Whitehall had a close personal and professional relationship with Archie. The two of them collaborated on various projects, and Whitehall frequently talked about the positive attitude and work ethic of Archie. Upon Archie's death, Whitehall posted emotional posts on social media about how he appreciated the time they spent together.
In 2025, Whitehall paid tribute to Archie Lyndhurst by reintroducing his own fashion label, Fated to Pretend.
