Who is Ava Phillippe dating? Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s daughter reacts to her romance being compared to her parents

Ava Phillippe took her and her boyfriend being compared to her famous parents, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, in stride.

Phillippe, a budding actress herself, took to TikTok on Wednesday to jokingly react to a comment that read,

“Close enough. Welcome back Reese and Ryan.”

The 25-year-old, who is dating Dakota Brubaker, reacted to the comment with her mouth gaping as she repeatedly mouthed "no." She also shook her head, visibly in disgust, while her boyfriend appeared in front of the camera, clad in a black turtleneck and sleek glasses. He was seemingly mimicking Ryan's character, Sebastian Valmont, in his and Witherspoon's 1999 thriller Cruel Intentions.

“You guys,” she captioned the post. “whaaaaattt.”

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe were married from 1999 to 2008, and it was on the set of Cruel Intentions that a romance began budding between the two. They welcomed Ava Phillippe in September 1999, and son Deacon Phillippe not long after.

Ava Phillippe is currently dating Dakota Brubaker. The pair have been linked romantically since 2024, when she took to Instagram to share photos of them in a booth. Brubaker could be seen giving her a peck on the cheek.

SCMP has reported that Brubaker is a musician who operates under the moniker Vindigo on stage. He recently dropped a single, Constant Pleasure. Ava Phillippe has been known to show her support in the comments section of most of his promotional Instagram posts.

“We (citizens of the void) appreciate your contributions to our culture,” she reportedly penned under one post, while another read, “Your swag – it’s all the way on.”

This may be the first time that fans have likened Dakota to Ryan Phillippe, but Reese Witherspoon and Ava Phillippe have long been compared. Speaking with InStyle in 2021, the veteran actress said she welcomes these comparisons wholeheartedly:

"Well, I love being mistaken for her because it makes me feel so young. I'm so proud of her. She really rolls with it. I'm sure it's not easy looking exactly like your mother."

She also said that they consulted her Big Little Lies co-star Zoë Kravitz on the matter:

"We talk to Zoë Kravitz a lot. Because she and her mother [Lisa Bonet] look exactly alike, so whenever Ava is frustrated, I go, "Call Zoë, text Zoë, she knows what to talk about." I mean, that's another mother-daughter combo that's like identical twins," she said in her interview.
