Halsey and Avan Jogia’s romance first entered the spotlight in September 2023, when the two were photographed together on a date in Los Angeles, People reported. Within weeks, Halsey, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, appeared to confirm the relationship with a series of Instagram photos alongside the Victorious alum. The news surfaced about six months after Halsey’s separation from Alev Aydin. One year later, in September 2024, the Closer singer announced their engagement.
The couple recently stepped out together in Venice, where they made rare red carpet appearances over the weekend, including the high-profile amfAR Gala on Aug. 31. Jogia, born Feb. 9, 1992, in Vancouver, Canada, is the younger of two sons of Wendy and Mike Jogia. His older brother, Ketan, pursued a career in music production. According to Flaunt magazine, Jogia left school at 17 to chase acting opportunities and moved to Los Angeles with a personal deadline to succeed within six months.
“I like timelines and due dates. I think without a deadline that you really respect, you can’t get anything done, If I had come out here and sort of didn’t know exactly that I had 6 months to get this done, I think I may have mingled around here for a few years and maybe tried it. I need the pressure of something forthcoming to really kick it into gear.” he shared.
Actor Avan Jogia reflected on Hollywood fame and family hardship in his latest book

From 2010 to 2013, Avan Jogia played Beck Oliver on Nickelodeon’s Victorious. He had been 17 at the show’s start and 22 when it ended. The role made him a teen heartthrob, even as he coped with his mother’s ovarian cancer diagnosis and the challenges of living alone in Los Angeles.
The actor revisited those years in his second poetry collection, Autopsy (of an Ex-Teen Heartthrob). The book compiled poems and prose reflecting the period when Jogia left high school, moved to L.A., and booked Victorious within six months. During that same time, his mother returned to Canada for treatment, while he remained in Hollywood.
In a conversation with Esquire journalist Trishna Rikhy, Jogia shared:
“I stepped into an observer role in my life rather than a participant in my life. I wrote poems throughout that entire experience, and so I thought if I reflected back on that time, I might be able to put together some semblance of what that time was like.”
Actor turned director Avan Jogia shared how industry struggles inspired Door Mouse

In 2023, Avan Jogia stepped behind the camera for the first time with the release of Door Mouse, a thriller that followed Mouse, a comic book artist who moonlighted as a burlesque dancer. The story had been close to Avan Jogia for years. He first drafted the script at 23, drawing on what he described as a “place of frustration” with how Hollywood treated Brown actors.
“This was born out of not feeling very much agency in the film industry, especially as an actor of color, I was looking to find parts that I felt like I could dig a little deeper into as an actor and train myself to give good performances and improve as an actor.” Jogia told Teen Vogue.
“Good parts are hard enough to get ahold of, you know, regardless of [diversity], and then you ask, how many films looking for a brown man are made a year? Of those roles, how many see me for that part? So I was frustrated and I wanted to find agency, so I started writing.” he added.
