Ole Miss football head coach Lane Kiffin confronted reporter Ben Garrett for allegedly using a derogatory word for him.

This goes back to a recent podcast during which Garrett reportedly called Kiffin a “h*e.” During a match on November 28, the head coach walked up to Garrett and said:

“You wanna walk in here and call me a h*e? Well, see how it goes.”

According to the official website of On3, Ben Garrett joined the outlet in 2008. Before that, he was in New Orleans in a desk job. Some of the agencies he worked with in the past include USA Today, FOX Sports, and others. He has two daughters, Rylee and Gracie.

This wasn’t the end of the interaction between the two individuals. Following the game and during a press conference, a reporter brought up the issue and mentioned that Kiffin was upset about it. While responding to it, he said:

“When you call someone a h*e, you know, that’s a different level of stuff. That’s about as bush league as stealing Trinidad’s jersey like Mississippi State did last night.”

Ben Garrett jumped in from the audience and clarified:

“It’s not calling you a h*e, it’s about commitment and that’s what really the question is.”

Lane Kiffin responded:

“I actually don’t even know your name.”

According to the New York Post, during the podcast episode, Garrett said:

“You can’t turn a h*e into a housewife. H*es don’t act right.”

Ben Garrett explains himself in a new video

On November 29, Ben Garrett posted a video on his X in which he clarified the situation. He said he never called Lane Kiffin that. He only used the term as a metaphor, for example, one cannot turn h*es into housewives. He said:

“But it was more about the disloyalty of last couple of weeks including the brazen moves of sending family members information gathering missions to Baton Rouge in Gainesville.”

He went on to say:

“It’s been a hit to the pride. Yes, when you all say I cowered. I disagree as someone who’s dealt with a hot-headed nature for most of his life but has really worked hard.”

Ben Garrett said that he was proud of the way he handled the situation. He listened to what Kiffin said to him on the match ground and did not react to him immediately. He wanted to respond, but by the time he tried to do so, Kiffin had already left. He captioned the X video:

“Back in from the Egg Bowl. No, I never called Lane Kiffin a h*e, which is an objectively funny sentence. I did, however, question his handling of the last two weeks with a crude metaphor on a podcast.”

He also said that people should not go by his face. Although he looked like a 24-year-old, he was 40. Ben Garrett said that although he did not get abs, he got a youthful face. He added that he has been married for 15 years and has two children. He mentioned that he has been in the profession for 20 years and wished to stay for more time, as this was his passion.
