As per a recent article by People, actor Ben Stiller is planning to showcase his parents' legacy through his upcoming project.

The publication states that Stiller is Apple Original Films for directing and producing a documentary titled Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, which will put on screen the life of Ben Stiller's parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara.

The documentary will premiere in selected theaters on 17 October before its release on the 24th of October on Apple TV. As per Apple's logline, the film explores Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara's 'impact on both popular culture and at home, where the lines between creativity, family, life, and art often blurred.'

“I feel very fortunate to be partnering once again with the incredible team at Apple TV+, this time on a project that is very personal to me and my family. It’s exciting to finally get to share it with audiences; and a great honor to celebrate my parents, both as I knew them growing up, and as I’ve come to know them in new ways through the making of this film.” Ben Stiller said in a statement.

Ben Stiller has worked previously on the show Severance with Apple TV+. He is an executive producer on the show and has directed a number of episodes.

In an interview with the Hey Dude…The 90s Called! podcast in June 2024, Ben Stiller recalled

"going with my parents whenever they would go out and do, you know, do nightclubs or go to see them in the theater" and recalled having "amazing memories" with his parents.

About Ben Stiller's parents

Ben Stiller was born to comedy legends Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. Stiller and Meara were successful comics who had an elaborate career spanning nearly six decades. The two formed the husband and wife comedy team Stiller and Meara in the 1960s. The team appeared on a variety of comedy shows, including The Ed Sullivan Show.

Apart from comedy, Stiller and Meara had managed to build a successful acting career for themselves. Anne Meara has worked on some renowned projects like Sex and the City, Oz, and Archie Bunker's Place.

As per the Washington Post, Stiller and Meara first crossed paths in 1953 at a casting director's office in New York City.

The two were unlikely to be a good fit: Anne was raised on Long Island, New York, as the lone child in an Irish Catholic family, while Jerry was Jewish and grew up on Manhattan's Lower East Side with his three younger brothers. Before meeting Anne, Jerry, who served in the Army and then attended Syracuse University, had likewise struggled with romance.

The two got married in the year 1954 and welcomed their first daughter, named Amy Stiller, in September 1961. Ben Stiller was the couple's second child, who was born on November 30, 1965. To start a family, Anne converted from Catholicism to Judaism before Amy's birth.

Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara later decided to break up their iconic comedy duo in order to save their marriage.

“It occurred to us that we were an unlikely couple. People would say to Anne, ‘Heh, you’re married to him?’ I thought we could use it.” Jerry told People.

On May 23, 2015, Anne Meara died at the age of 85. Jerry passed away on May 11, 2020, at the age of 92, about five years after his wife's demise.
