Music executive Big U, known for managing rappers like Nipsey Hustle and Kurupt, has suffered a personal tragedy. According to TMZ, his son Jabari Henley was killed in a shootout in Los Angeles on Friday, October 31. The incident took place at around 11 p.m. at the intersection of 69th and Figueroa street in the south L.A neighborhood. Big U has two other sons apart from Jabari Henley. His oldest son, Michael Henley is a performer, while his youngest son, Daiyan Henley, is a linebacker for the Los Angeles Checkers. He also has a daughter Cherysh Henley, though not much is known about her.

At the moment authorities are investigating the details surrounding the death of Jabari Henley, who was killed on Halloween night. According to Fox 11 News, Jabari had approached a vehicle when someone inside the car shot him multiple times. Authorities were soon called to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but Jabari was declared dead at the scene.

Eugene Henley Jr., professionally known as Big U has four children from his marriage to Stacey Allen, who he met when they were both teenagers. According to Los Angeles Times, the couple married in 1992, shortly after Big U was arrested for attempting to rob an undercover police officer. The couple aldready had welcomed their two sons when Big U was arrested and later given a 23 year sentence.

The couple's eldest son, Michael Henley, is also known by his stage name, Khaleeafah. He is a singer, who released his song "Free vs Freedom" back in February.

On the other hand, Jabari "Baby Uiie" Henley, was just two months old when his father was arrested back in 1992. He and his older brother, Michael was raised by their mother, while his father served their prison sentence. Big U was released in January 2004, after which he tried to be more involved in the life of his youngest son, Daiyan Henley, something he had missed out with his older children.

In an interview for the 2021 FX documentary, "Hip Hop Unlocked," Big U reflected on how his absence from the lives of his two older sons may have lead them to difficullt paths, much like himself. He said:

"The two who didn’t have a dad went through the hard times. They were the ones gangbanging, making bad decisions. I don’t knock ’em. Not one bit. I take the blame for that, 100%."

His youngest son Daiyan Henley, was born on November 18, 1999. He is was trained by his father from an early age and later attended University of Nevada before transferring to Washington State University in his final year of college. In the same 2021 documentary, Daiyan Henley spoke about his father's influence on his career, and said:

“If anyone was ever to come to my dad and say, ‘Hey, Big U, we saw your son doing this or that,’ he would have lost it. The whole neighborhood would have been in trouble.”

His father, in turn, praised Daiyan, for carving his own path to success. He said:

"There’s got to be a better way to ask that question. Like, ‘What are you not most proud of?’ He made it. He made the right decisions every step of the way and then slid on home. He really, like, ran around the bases and slid home, you know? For real.”

According to reports, the unidentified shooter fled the scene after the incident, and at the moment no arrests have been made in connection to Jabari Henley's death.
