Billy Bush recently opened up about how his brother, Jonathan Bush, who is the former CEO of Athenahealth, was his biggest supporter after the tapes of his problematic conversation with Donald Trump were released.

According to Entertainment Weekly, during his appearance on Literally! With Rob Lowe, Bush spoke of the lasting implications from when the tapes were leaked, and praised his older brother, saying he was a pillar of support for him. He said:

"I did everything I could think of to keep myself from jumping off the building. My brother is my best friend, and when his marriage and world fell apart, I was there for him. And in this case, he was there for me. And I would never have survived without him."

Back in 2016, the 2005 conversation between Billy Bush and Donald Trump was released. In the tape, Bush, who then worked at Access Hollywood, was seen conversing with Trump, where both engaged in misogynistic comments about women, particularly commenting about actress Arianne Zucker, with whom Trump was supposed to film a scene for his appearance on The Days of Our Lives. Following this, Bush was removed from his position at Today.

More about Jonathan Bush, as a former Today Show host, talks about the difficult time in his career

Jonathan Bush was born on 10 March 1969. He is the eldest son of Josephine Colwell Bradley and Jonathan James Bush, who was the brother of former President George Bush.

According to Biz Journals, Jonathan Bush attended Phillips Academy, a college preparatory school based in Massachusetts. He first enrolled at Boston University but later transferred to Wesleyan University, from which he graduated in 1993. During his undergrad year in college, Jonathan Bush served as a medic in the Army during the US liberation of Kuwait and was stationed in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, before his deployment.

As per FreeOpp, Bush worked as an EMT based in New Orleans at one point in his career. Talking about his experience with Information Week, he said:

"In the case of emergency medicine, if you don’t treat, it’s too late. Meanwhile, we pay outrageous sums of money to have doctors dumb themselves down into doing things that could easily be delegated.”

Bush later attended Harvard University, from which he graduated in 1997. That same year, he co-founded Athenahealth along with Todd Park. According to his LinkedIn profile, he served as the CEO of the company for twenty-one years, until his resignation in June 2018. In a statement, Jonathan Bush talked about his resignation, saying:

"It's easy for me to see that the very things that made me useful to the Company and cause in these past twenty-one years, are now exactly the things that are in the way."

Jonathan Bush's resignation came at a time when revelations about him attacking his wife were made public. According to the Daily Mail, Bush, who shared five children with his first wife, Sarah Seldon, had attacked her and caused her bodily harm. His statement to the outlet read:

"I take complete responsibility for all these regrettable incidents involving my dear former wife. They occurred during a particularly difficult personal time in my life. I have worked very hard since then to demonstrate my remorse."

Since then, Bush has worked as the Executive Chairman at Firefly Health from 2019 to 2024. He is currently the CEO of Zus Health and founded another company, named Maine For Keeps, in April this year.
