Who is Brody Jenner’s mother? Caitlyn Jenner’s son reveals he received a “sincere apology” from his father for ‘abandoning’ him for the Kardashians

Caitlyn Jenner's son, Brody Jenner, says he received an apology from the former for “not being there” and "abandoning" him for the Kardashians while growing up. Speaking on the January 15 episode of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, he revealed that it was the first time he had gotten an apology from Jenner.

Then known as Bruce, Caitlyn Jenner and Linda began dating in 1980. The two got married in January the following year, and during their marriage, they welcomed two sons: Brandon and Brody. Linda and Jenner parted ways in 1986 when the latter conceded to being a trans woman.

As for who she is, Linda Thompson is an American songwriter, former actress, and beauty pageant winner. She began her career in acting on Hee Haw and is more famously known for having dated Elvis Presley.

Brody Jenner slams Caitlyn Jenner for not being there for him growing up, vows to be different for his own kid

During Wednesday's episode, Brody Jenner reflected on the apology he received from Caitlyn Jenner:

"Just recently, I got a real, sincere apology," the 41-year-old said of his 75-year-old parent. "It was the first time in my life that I’ve ever gotten an apology. You know, ‘I’m sorry for not being there,’ and honestly, it meant a lot.”

The two have famously shared a tumultuous relationship, though it was only until Caitlyn Jenner transitioned in 2015 that things got better for the two of them:

"I'd randomly see him — 'him' at the time — you know, here and there,” he recalled. “But, mom would tell me that I would write on cards, 'Why doesn't dad call me on my birthday?'”

He also reflected on how not having Caitlyn Jenner around growing up made being a father different for him. He welcomed a baby girl named Honey with his fiancée Tiarah "Tia" Blanco in July 2023:

“I think not having Bruce around growing up and her doing that transition, it was tough just being her son,” he explained. “I just had a beautiful little daughter. I'm not living for myself anymore. I'm living for her. I think it's gonna make me a better father. I'm gonna do the exact opposite of, as far as being there for her, as my father did for me.”

Caitlyn Jenner shares six children with three different wives. He first married Chrystie Scott and the two welcomed Burt Jenner and Cassandra Marino. He then got married to Linda Thompson, and following that, he married Kris Jenner. He shares Kendall and Kylie Jenner with the latter.

Reflecting on his mom, The Hills: New Beginnings alum said:

"I had an incredible mother. Father, Bruce, at the time, wasn’t around that much. They split, and then he met a woman. She had kids as well. The woman that he met … they had kids together.”

During the segment, Brody Jenner also touched on what it was like learning about his father wanting to transition, noting that it was "sort of a relief." He went on, adding that things finally "started to make sense" for him.

"When I found out that Caitlyn, or Bruce, wanted to be Caitlyn, it was sort of a relief. I think that there were a lot of things that started to make sense, you know, just in my life, about my father, and maybe why he wasn't there all those years.”

He added:

“And I think when you have kids, you need to accept a little bit of responsibility that the things you do are also going to reflect on them as well. I think it really has shaped me to do everything different and to really be there and to be present to my little girl.”

Just this past August, Brody opened up about his struggles with being a new father. At the time, he said on a podcast that he "really know if I could really have kids," though he credited the mother of his child for being

"the absolute perfect person. She is my better half. She is the most incredible woman I've ever met in my entire life, and I think the universe does things the way it's supposed to."
