The 2025 Emmy’s stood out for many reasons; among the most notable, as is often the case, was the stars’ choice of wardrobe. The RuPaul’s Drag Race stars took command of the red carpet upon their arrival, especially Joella, who was the talk of the awards ceremony due to her Labubu-inspired outfit.

Joella, a contestant from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17, arrived dressed like a popular Chinese toy. She was fully covered in a furry suit with the signature Labubu ears to match. There was a cutout for her face where she applied makeup to look even more like the dolls, and she wore her ‘outfit’ (consisting of a red dress and a lunchbox carry bag) on top of the furry layer.

Joella appeared in fellow Drag Race star Jewels Sparkles’ Instagram Stories, where the real-life Labubu doll proclaimed, “Hi! It's the slay-sian Labubu."

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards were hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze and took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 14.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa stuns alongside Labubu-clad Joella

BLACKPINK’s Lisa took her star to an even higher level after portraying a character in the third season of HBO’s hit series, The White Lotus. The fan-favorite, complete package entertainer stunned on the red carpet, and a picture of her with Joella’s life-sized Labubu imitation sent shockwaves through the online community. Some users even joked that they thought Lisa had brought a personal Labubu as an accessory or statement piece.

Interestingly, Lisa’s obsession with Labubu’s is well-documented. She was one of the first celebrities to wear the item as part of her accessories (essentially endorsing the product indirectly) and often talks about her favorite and most sought-after pieces in the Labubu collection. In fact, at one of her recent performances in London, part of the Deadline World Tour, the BLACKPINK star even wore a Labubu-inspired outfit on stage.

When speaking to Vanity Fair for an interview in 2024, Lisa shared the following about her love for Pop Mart products (Labubu's manufacturer) in general, stating,

“[My close friends in Thailand] showed me a bunch of stuff and as soon as I got them, I went crazy. I spent all my money. I go to Pop Mart everywhere if I fly to New York, I go to Miami, I try to find Pop Mart there, Paris. Kinda like finding treasure.”

Lisa’s show, The White Lotus, ended up winning one award on Emmy night, despite being nominated for 23 overall.
