Charlie Sheen doesn’t have a confirmed girlfriend as of early 2025. However, reports from Next Luxury indicated that his most recent relationship had been with Julia Stambler, who once worked as the nanny for his twin sons with ex-wife Brooke Mueller. Stambler had been 26 when she and Charlie Sheen, then 51, first met, and their age difference raised eyebrows at the time. Despite that, the pair seemingly kept their romance private, with Sheen reportedly appearing content. It remained unclear if the two were still together, as the actor had stepped away from the tabloid spotlight.

Charlie Sheen made a very different kind of public return. Nearly two decades after his divorce from Denise Richards, the two reunited on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of his Netflix documentary aka Charlie Sheen on September 4.

The two-part project saw Charlie Sheen reflect on his career and path to sobriety. Richards appeared in the documentary alongside Brooke Mueller, Jon Cryer, Chuck Lorre, and even Sheen’s former drug dealer, Marco. On the night of the premiere, Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards posed for photos, embraced, and joined the film’s director, Andrew Renzi, on the carpet. According to People, the last time Sheen and Denise Richards attended a red carpet together had been back in 2005, before their 2006 divorce. Their most recent public interaction prior to the premiere came earlier in 2024, when Sheen appeared on an episode of Richards’ Bravo reality series Denise Richards & Her Wild Things.

Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen’s marriage, and eventual divorce, played out in the public eye, which was widely covered in the media. The two began dating in 2000 and married in 2002. Their first child, Sam, arrived in 2004, and Richards soon announced she was expecting again. But before her second child’s birth, she filed for divorce. At the time, Sheen’s representative issued a statement to People:

"We are deeply saddened by the recent events and out of our love and concern for our daughter Sam, our unborn child and each other, we ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

Over the next few years, their relationship was defined by legal disputes. In May 2006, they tried to take a more amicable route, releasing a joint message:

"Denise and Charlie are working with the Courts to privately resolve their differences regarding their children. They hope to resolve this matter outside of the public forum and will both continue to make every effort in this regard."

Charlie Sheen went on to marry Brooke Mueller in 2008. Richards did not attend the wedding, though she admitted her daughters would be present. Charlie Sheen and Mueller’s twin boys, Max and Bob, were born in March 2009. The couple divorced in 2010. Years later, Richards demonstrated her commitment to co-parenting when she invited Charlie Sheen to her 2018 Malibu wedding to Aaron Phypers. On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she explained:

"No matter what's gone down with Charlie and I, I invite Charlie to anything having to do with the kids and I. Even if he did bring a prostitute as his date, I wouldn't care. It's just, it is what it is."

Richards later admitted her regrets about the past:

"I just feel like I f—ed up a lot with their dad. I don't want them to look back at their childhood and remember [fights]."

Charlie Sheen’s path through addiction and recovery was challenging. Bby 2025, he had celebrated eight years of sobriety. People reported that after years of failed stints in rehab, the actor finally walked away from drugs and alcohol in 2017 and, surprisingly, the decision was reportedly easier than anticipated.

"There wasn't anywhere to go with it," he told the outlet, recalling how he quit drugs even before he gave up alcohol. "And whether it's true or not, I believe the next hit would kill me."

For drinking, the shift was immediate. Sheen said he quit cold turkey after realizing he wanted to be the kind of father his children Cassandra, Sami, Lola, Bob, and Max could count on. He realized the need to quit after being too drunk to drive Sami to an appointment. These days, when the urge to relapse surfaces, Sheen said he turns to memories of darker times.

"I keep really awful situations on a mobile spinning around my head, like one of those things you would hang over a baby crib, and anytime I'm thinking, 'That'd be a great idea,' there's an example that I can go to and just remember that it wouldn't be a good idea — just the shame, the distress, and the chaos. It's all still there," he shared

Away from his struggles with sobriety, Sheen’s romantic history was widely reported in the media. People noted his whirlwind engagement to Kelly Preston in 1990. It ended after a bizarre incident in which she was accidentally shot when a loaded gun discharged from Sheen’s pants on a bathroom floor. Following their split in March of that year, Preston married John Travolta. After Preston, Charlie dated adult film actress Ginger Lynn Allen on and off for five years and was later linked to supermodel Stephanie Seymour in 1992.
