Cheryl Fergison is getting candid about the moment she learned of her first husband's philandering ways.
The former EastEnders star reportedly uncovered her husband's infidelity in 2008. The 59-year-old, most known for portraying Heather Trott in the BBC soap, said she had to do some 'solid detective work' to solidify what was weeks of suspicion against her first husband.
Before Yassine el Jamouni, her current husband, Cheryl Fergison was married to Jamshed Saddiqi, an Afghan refugee. She welcomed a son named Alex with Saddiqi, who is now 25 years old. The pair were married for eight years before they divorced in 2008.
Cheryl Fergison recalls the moment she learned her husband had been unfaithful

In her new autobiography Behind The Scenes, she recalled her suspicions first arising when she caught a whiff of an unfamiliar perfume in her car:
"I pulled the seatbelt across my body and then it hit me. A scent. Light, sweet, floral and powdery, but definitely not mine," she writes.
However, despite her husband's objections and claims that it was his own aftershave, things took a turn for the worse when she found calls to an unknown number on their phone bill. Upon calling the number and hearing a woman's voice, Cheryl Fergison cut the call. When she called back, her husband picked up.
"I began to suspect that my husband was cheating on me," she writes. "But I tried to convince myself I was wrong."
She ultimately followed him to his meeting point with his mistress, referring to it as a “dingy, makeshift love nest.”
"And there, perched on the dirty bed she shared with my husband, was a skinny blonde woman, sipping a bright blue WKD like it was the most natural thing in the world," she recalls. "Jay stood next to her, caught in the headlights, but still silent, still unwilling to give me anything. Not an apology, not an explanation, not even an ounce of shame. That night, I packed up the car, strapped Alex into his seat and drove to London. Leaving my marriage and Jay behind."
Cheryl Fergison suffered from a stroke in May this year, and has since been relying on a walking stick for aid. According to The Mirror, the actress now hopes to inspire relatability in her audience:
“I have always worn my heart on my sleeve, so I hope my story is relatable," she said. “I have had to come to terms with a lot of stuff. I had to process it before I could talk about it. Now the time is right.”
Shortly after she was hit with the stroke, she spoke to The Mirror about its lingering effects:
"You lose the ability to coordinate your hands, to walk properly, your balance is gone. It’s frustrating and makes you angry. But I’ve started to recover; I am coming on in leaps and bounds now." Of the experience, she said: "I went to bed but couldn't settle. When I got up in the night to go to the bathroom, my balance completely went and I had to stop myself from falling over. My whole right side felt numb, heavy and tingly.”
Cheryl Fergison has since tied the knot with Yassine el Jamouni, a shopkeeper from Morocco, 21 years her junior. The pair tied the knot in 2011, and he shifted to the UK permanently that same year. Not much is known about him, however, as he prefers to live his life outside of the spotlight.
