Christian McCaffrey and his wife, model Olivia Culpo, have welcomed their first child—a baby girl. The NFL star shared the joyful news on Instagram on Sunday, posting a heartwarming photo of their newborn daughter. According to People magazine, the couple has named her Colette Annalise McCaffrey. Christian, the son of Lisa and former NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, received an outpouring of love and congratulations from fans and fellow athletes alike.

The news of this new chapter for the McCaffrey-Culpo family comes just a year after the couple tied the knot in June 2024. According to People Magazine, Olivia Culpo announced her pregnancy back in March of this year through an Instagram post, where she showed off her baby bump.

More about Christian McCaffrey's parents, as the NFL star welcomes his first child with wife Olivia Culpo

Christian McCaffrey was born on 7 June 1996 to former NFL player Ed McCaffrey and Lisa McCaffrey. His parents both attended Stanford University, where they met and later married in April 1992 after a few months of dating. Just like Christian McCaffrey, both of his parents were multi-sport players, with Ed McCaffrey primarily playing football in college, whereas Lisa played soccer.

According to People Magazine, Ed McCaffrey and his four siblings were born and raised in Pennsylvania. Like him, two of his siblings also went on to play for their respective college teams. On the other hand, Lisa McCaffrey was born to Dr. David Slime, who won the Silver medal in the 100-meter race at the 1960 Olympics held in Rome. Both of her siblings were also athletes who played sports in college.

Just like his parents, Christian McCaffrey and his siblings have been involved in sports from their childhood, and each of them has played in the NFL at some point in their career. In their interview with The Denver Post, Christian McCaffrey's parents talked about their conflicting memories of their first meeting. Ed McCaffrey, who is a three-time Super Bowl champion, said:

"For me, it was love at first sight."

Whereas Lisa McCaffrey said:

"If he doesn’t remember, it’s because he was this big-time football player, and I was just this little soccer player,

In 2017, the couple celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, with Lisa sharing a picture of both of them on Instagram.

Back in 2024, when Christian McCaffrey made his Super Bowl debut with the San Francisco 49ers, Lisa McCaffrey, who hosts a podcast, "Your Mom," shared that she did not initially think she would be able to attend the game in person because of the steep ticket prices. She said:

"We are not in a suite, I will tell you that. They are outrageously expensive. They are stupidly expensive. I don't know if it's the Taylor Swift factor or the first time in (Las) Vegas factor."

She also opened up about the emotions that come with watching her son play. She said:

"There's something about your kid when they are playing," she said. "I know Ed feels the same way... you want it so bad for him that it hurts."

During his appearance on ManningCast, Christian McCaffrey talked about how valuable it was for him to have his father as a mentor from a young age. He said:

"It was such a blessing. To have him as a resource, just as a player. Being able to learn so many intricacies of the game at such a young age, but also to learn how to do it... Half my life I watched my dad block for guys like (Pro Football Hall of Fame running back) Terrell Davis. And so for me, it was kind of ingrained in us. There's a way to play the game, there's a way to respect the game."

Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey are now looking forward to the next chapter of their journey as parents.
