Colin Kaepernick’s Met Gala appearance alongside partner Nessa Diab has taken the internet by storm. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback graced the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art with Diab, who is a television and radio personality. Both Kaepernick and Diab looked dapper in keeping with the theme of the 2025 Met Gala, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.’
Nessa Diab has had a long career comprising radio and television hosting gigs. The daughter of Egyptian immigrants to the U.S., Diab went to the University of California, Berkeley, to study mass communication, according to People Magazine.

As per Bustle, Diab began working at the KYLD WiLD 94.9 radio station in San Francisco, eventually hosting her own show with the station. As per the news outlet, Diab went on to host another show at the Los Angeles-based KPWR 105.9 FM.
People Magazine reports that Diab was eventually cast in MTV’s Girl Code. She went on to host after-show specials for reality shows such as Teen Mom, The Real World, and Snooki & Jwoww.
Diab hosts an afternoon hip-hop radio show on Hot 97, called Nessa on Air.
Nessa Diab and Colin Kaepernick’s relationship explored
Nessa Diab and Colin Kaepernick debuted their relationship in 2016 when they attended a charity event benefiting children with heart disease, as per US Weekly. The news outlet also reported that both partners frequently support each other’s philanthropic ventures.

In 2022, Diab and Kaepernick became proud parents to a baby girl. The birth of their daughter was announced via Instagram by Diab, who wrote:
"Colin and I welcomed our amazing baby to the world a few weeks ago and we are over the moon with our growing family. Recovering after delivery has been a journey (more on that later) and honestly I wasn’t going to share anything because this is sooooo personal to us and I realized I’m a complete mama bear!"
Diab also shared insights into her and Kaepernick’s lives as new parents, writing:
"Colin is the most amazing dad and I’m soooo grateful that he is by our side for every moment of this journey. I know sharing this allows me to connect with you in different ways that I never imagined. My conversations and life experiences have already changed. And my world has gotten that much bigger thanks to our sweet little baby who has shown me how to love in ways I never knew."
The former NFL quarterback and the television host began the Know Your Rights Camp, which envisions the advancement of minority groups, especially black and brown communities.
The couple’s desire to serve the cause of social justice led them to write a children’s book together, titled We Are Free You and Me. As per NPR, the book seeks to introduce young children to ideas of freedom and equality in an accessible language. During a conversation with NPR, Diab described the book and said:
"You're going to get joy, you're going to get happiness, you're going to get strength, you're going to get, you know, feeling empowered and community. That is one of the many things that I'm proud of, because there is just nothing you can't accomplish with the right support system. And I feel that community is that for most people."
The couple’s appearance at the 2025 Met Gala was not their first time attending the fashion event. In 2019, Diab and Kaepernick stunned fans at the Met Gala and paid tribute to their ancestors from Ghana and Egypt with their outfits.
