Emma Stone and husband Dave McCary had fans swooning after the latter made a rare red carpet appearance on August 28 at the Venice Film Festival.

E! News reported that the Oscar-winning actress, 36, was there for the premiere of her forthcoming film, Bugonia. While on the red carpet, she shared a sweet moment with her husband, 40, when they kissed.

Stone, who sported a custom Louis Vuitton gown and Roger Vivier heels, tied the knot with McCary in 2020 and has since welcomed a daughter named Louise Jean, 4. McCary is a writer and director at SNL, where he has been working since 2013. He also co-founded the L.A.-based sketch comedy group, Good Neighbor.

He boasts an Emmy nomination for his work at SNL, as well as a WGA Award for writing. He directed the feature film Brigsby Bear, which premiered at Sundance. Elle Magazine reported that he asked Emma Stone to marry him in December 2019, two years into their relationship.

Emma Stone jokes about being an alien: Read more

People Magazine reported that, for her forthcoming movie, Emma Stone stars alongside Alicia Silverstone, Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and more. It marks her fourth film with director Yorgos Lanthimos.

They previously collaborated in 2018 on The Favourite, in 2023 on Poor Things (for which she won a Best Actress Oscar), in 2024 on Kinds of Kindness, and on several short films.

The film is based on the 2003 South Korean comedy Save the Green Planet! by Jang Joon-hwan.

The synopsis follows:

“two conspiracy-obsessed young men [who] kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth,”

As reported by The Daily Mail, when asked if she believed in something higher looking down on humanity, Emma Stone said:

'I don't know about looking down on us, but one of my favorite people who has ever lived is Carl Sagan. I watched his show Cosmos and I fell madly in love with his philosophy and science and how brilliant he seems to be. I think he very deeply believed that the idea that we're alone in this vast expansive universe is a pretty narcissistic thing to think. So yes I'm coming out and saying it, I believe in aliens! Thank you!'

Earlier in the night, when asked about how she deals with success without morphing into an alien, Emma Stone quipped:

'How do you know I'm not an alien?' She added: 'I think there's a tricky aspect to that answer that's probably longer than anything that anyone would want to listen to right now. But I think everyone sort of deals with that now. We all can relate to that feeling of someone thinking they know you; feeling like you don't have much control of the avatar outside of me. Because there's me, and then there's me, here. There's the person who comes here and then there's the person who I am with my friends and family. They're the same person, but it's what I do to keep myself sane.'
