Dennis Quaid is the father of three children: 33-year-old actor Jack Quaid, and 17-year-old twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace. Jack is Quaid’s son with actress Meg Ryan, while Thomas and Zoe were born to Quaid and his third wife, Kimberly Buffington, in 2007 via gestational carrier. All three children have been part of Quaid’s evolving journey as a parent, which he has often described as “life-changing.”

This week, Dennis Quaid provided an emotional update about Zoe, who is currently working as a camp counselor in Texas—a state that’s been devastated by deadly flash floods. Speaking to Fox News Digital, the actor said his daughter was “a few miles away” from Camp Mystic, where rising waters from the Guadalupe River killed 27 people, many of them children.

“Thankfully, their camp was OK,” Quaid said.

Dennis Quaid admitted he didn’t sleep much the night the flooding began.

“I heard about this as I was going to bed that night, and I tried to call her because I knew she was up there. I knew it wasn't near where the floods were, but I wasn’t able to talk to her till the next day,” he said.

He confirmed that Zoe and others at her camp are “relatively safe up there” (Fox News Digital, July 2025).

Jack Quaid, born in 1992, is Dennis Quaid’s eldest child from his marriage to Meg Ryan. He’s best known for starring in The Boys, Scream, and The Hunger Games. Dennis once joked about Jack’s rise to fame, saying:

“When he said he was ready to act, I told him I’d help him out… but he said, ‘No, I want to do it myself.’ Now I’m like, ‘Hey, how about a little help?’” (PEOPLE, April 2025).

During his 2020 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson show, Quaid praised Jack for becoming “a really fine man,” saying:

“Even more than an actor, he's really turned out to be a really fine man.”

Thomas and Zoe, Dennis Quaid’s younger twins, were born in 2007 and faced a major health scare shortly after birth. Due to a hospital error, they were mistakenly given a massive overdose of the blood thinner Heparin—1,000 times the recommended amount. Miraculously, both made a full recovery. Reflecting on that incident, Quaid told PEOPLE in 2008:

“It’s the greatest thing to hold those kids and see their faces because we had a happy ending... If they hadn’t made it, it really would have changed my life.”

In his recent Fox News Digital interview, Quaid also extended condolences to his friend Clark Hunt, the Kansas City Chiefs owner, who lost a young family member, 9-year-old Janie Hunt, in the Camp Mystic tragedy.

“I can’t imagine how that would … how devastating that would be,” he said. “You think of those kids that night, and it just chills my heart. Do a lot of praying because there’s a lot of people that need to be prayed for.”

The Hill Country of Texas is known for being a truly remarkable region, yet Quaid reminds us ‘how fragile life is’ during these catastrophic floods. His voice echoes across the nation and the entire state as he puts forth a touching statement regarding the ongoing natural tragedy.
