Dez Bryant, a former football player who primarily played for the Dallas Cowboys, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to Jerry Jones' comments about him, but soon, Nicki Minaj herself joined the feud. According to The New York Post, the Dallas Cowboys owner had recently referenced Dez Bryant and Roc Nation's name in a comment about why he does not like agents to be present in the room during negotiations. This comment was made in light of Micah Parsons' recent request for a trade.

Soon after Jerry Jones made the above remarks, Dez Bryant called him out, saying that it would not be wise to mention his name, hinting that he had previously experienced a lot during his stint with the Dallas Cowboys and would be willing to reveal it to the world. Jerry Jones has not yet responded to Bryant's comments.

More about Dez Bryant and his connection to Roc Nation, as Nicki Minaj calls out the former wide receiver

According to BET, Dez Bryant joined Roc Nation in November 2014, after the then ongoing negotiations with his previous agent and the Dallas Cowboys fell through. Bryant, who had joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2010 as a rookie, had spent five years with the team before asking for a reevaluation of his contract. Roc Nation, which was founded by Jay Z and Desiree Perez in 2008, announced Bryant's addition to their list of clients. They released a statement on X (formerly Twitter), that read:

"A warm welcome to the newest member of the #RocNationSports family, @DezBryant! #ThrowUpTheX."

The negotiations between Roc Nation, which were representing Dez Bryant, and the Dallas Cowboys went on for months. In July 2015, an agreement was reached where Dez Bryant would receive $70 million as part of a five-year deal. According to ESPN, Jerry Jones and his son had attended the deliberations, which were also presided over by Jay Z. He has previously spoken about the negotiations, saying:

"If we were not comfortable with how Dez has grown over the past five years off the field and the support that includes Roc Nation, this deal probably doesn't get done. I'm happy for both sides. It's a great deal for Dez, and he's earned this contract. We're satisfied with the terms and structure. Condon and Stephen worked hard on the contract to get it done on time."

Dez Bryant, who previously played college football for Oklahoma State University, has himself been the center of several controversies. Previously, he was accused of making anti-pro-choice statements, a claim which he later denied. Back in 2012, he was arrested and later charged with a class A misdemeanor for attacking his mother, Angela Bryant, who had called the police on him. However, according to reports, she later asked the police to drop the charges, stating it was a family matter that she wished to resolve privately with her son.

Now, ten years later since the deal, Jerry Jones once again brought it up in an interview. He said the reason he does not like agents to be present during negotiations is that they are never to be found when the team has a problem with the player. He said:

"Because when we have a problem with the player, the agent is nowhere to be found. Jay-Z said that Dez would make all meetings. Jay-Z and I negotiated the contract, spent hours. He said, 'Anybody in my organization is on time.' He said, 'My office used to be on the street corner, and I've always been early. So, they will be on time.' And what did I say? I said, 'I'm going to call you [when I have a problem].' He quit taking my call.

This prompted reactions from not just Roc Nation and Dez Bryant, but also a surprise third party. Dez Bryant said:

"JERRY JONES I DONT THINK ITS SMART TO MENTION MY NAME. I KEPT QUIET ABOUT A LOT OF UNFAIR SHIT.. ON SOME G SHIT…WE CAN HAVE STORY TIME IF THATS WHAT WE ARE DOING."

On Sunday, Roc Nation responded to Jerry Jones' statement, calling it "comical." They said:

"In 2015, at the 21 Club, on a napkin, Jerry Jones, Juan Perez, Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter and Stephen Jones negotiated a five-year, $70 million deal, which included a $45 million guarantee and a $20 million signing bonus for Dez Bryant. At the time, it was the second-largest contract for a wide receiver in NFL history. The claim that Mr. Carter or Roc Nation representatives did not return a call from Jerry Jones is not only a false statement, but it's also a comical one.

Nicki Minaj, who has been in a long-standing feud with Roc Nation, joined the discussion. She added that she, too, would be willing to spill more about her issues with Roc Nation and the company's founders. She tweeted:

"Hey, its Nicki Minaj. How about we play a game?🏈Every time you do a “Jerry Jones” or “NFL” story time, I’ll do a “story time” of my own."

Since this tweet, Nicki Minaj and Dez Bryant have gone back and forth in an online feud, where both parties have attacked each other.
