While Diego Pavia continues to draw national attention for his playing style and rising profile in college football, his brothers, Roel and Javier Pavia, have also drawn attention, but for very different reasons. Both have had problems on game days, which have led to arrests.

The breakout star of Vanderbilt and former New Mexico State star, Diego Pavia, is the youngest of three brothers: Javier Pavia and Roel Pavia Jr. Coming from a loud, competitive, and supportive family, the three siblings share a tight-knit bond.

Roel Jr and Javier played a huge role in making Diego the star he is today. They pushed and challenged him. According to The New York Times, Diego tried and spent his entire childhood trying to “keep up with his older siblings,” who were bigger and stronger than he was. Roel Jr acknowledged that their teasing motivated Diego, and as he grew older, "he got bigger than us."

Roel Jr. attended Briar Cliff University to play football and wrestling, and both brothers frequently attend their younger siblings' games. They usually get overenthusiastic, which has led to problems.

The brothers who are regulars at Vanderbilt games frequently travel in big groups with family, friends, and extended family. The crowd supporting Diego Pavia has been called a loud entourage by Pavia's coaches and teammates.

The Pavia brothers were part of the crowd that tore down the goalposts at Vanderbilt's victory over Alabama in 2024, before they took the celebrations onto Broadway in Nashville. The celebrations continued into the next week.

Diego, in an interview with The New York Times, he said:

“In New Mexico, that’s what we do… it’d be a two-year-old’s birthday party and the party’s freaking turnt. We had a really good time (Saturday) night, to say the least.”

The crowd's presence has been described as intense, loyal and always ready for celebrations.

Diego Pavia's brother's arrest

On November 30, Javia Pavia was arrested on November 30, 2025 during the Tennessee and Vanderbilt game at Neyland Stadium. According to reports, Javier was holding a big flag that obscured the view of other fans. He apparently became aggressive after being requested to lower it, which resulted in his arrest.

Photos of Javier being against a police car while wearing a Vanderbilt jacket with SEC patches and an emblem with a Tennessee theme surfaced. The younger brother was leading his team to a 45-24 win when he got arrested. On that day, Diego Pavia ran a season high of 265 yards.

In another incident, Javier was escorted from the stands on November 1, 2025, by campus police, who witnessed him shoving and cursing at a Texas fan in the stands during the Texas Longhorns versus Vanderbilt game. No arrests were made, but a video clip of the incident has gone viral.

The incident happened soon after Diego Pavia made headlines for celebrating by throwing a football toward Texas safety Xavier Filsaime, which raised flags and caused tensions on the field.

In a separate incident this year on August 31, 2025, the brothers, Javier, who is 25 and Roel, who is 26 years old, were taken into custody after the Vandernilt vs Charleston Southern game, for resisting arrest and public intoxication, according to court documents.

Roel Jr was charged with a felony charge of assault on law enforcement. The brothers were released the next morning and were scheduled to appear in court the following Tuesday.

Diego Pavia has credited his family for his successes, especially his brothers, who are there at almost every game cheering for him.
