Former NFL player Mark Sanchez was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed earlier this week, on Friday night. However, according to The Guardian, just hours after being taken to the hospital, he was arrested for being involved in a brawl with another individual. Mark Sanchez, who has a troubled past, was previously accused of allegedly being involved with Eliza Kruger, the seventeen year old daughter of Connecticut based hedge funder and CEO of SwiftConnect, Konrad Kruger.
According to New York Post, the recent incident on October 3 involving Mark Sanchez took place outside the Loughmiller's Pub & Eatery in Indianapolis. It is reported that both men were injured, with the other man sustaining "significant injuries."
Although Mark Sanchez still remains hospitalized where he is recuperating from his injuries, he has been charged with misdemeanors including"battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication”
More about Mark Sanchez's troubled history, as the Fox Sports expert commentator is arrested after stabbing incident
According to CBS News, back in 2011, Mark Sanchez was allegedly involved with the-then seventeen year old Eliza Kruger. The alleged incident first came to light when Kruger detailed her alleged involvement with Sanchez to the sports blog Deadspin. Sanchez, who was twenty four at that time, had met Eliza Kruger at a club in new York on New Year's Eve. The pair allegedly met up again a week later and recconected over dinner. Eliza Kruger was a high school student at the time, and she is the daughter of Marie Kruger and Konrad "Chip" Kruger, who is a wealthy hedge fund investor.
According to the statment given by the teenager to the outlet, the pair later went back to the player's house after the dinner. She said:
"We went back to his place in Jersey after dinner. He lives on a golf course. There was a big storm."
She further added:
"He’s a really nice guy, you know. He’s one of the kindest people, and he’s a genuine person."
Not much is known about how long Mark Sanchez was involved with Eliza Kruger, but there were no legal ramifications, as the age of consent in New York is sixteen.
According to the Los Angeles Times, back in April 2006, Mark Sanchez was arrested for allegedly being in a sexual assault incident. Sanchez, at that time was a student at the University of Southern California and was arrested after a fellow student, who had to be hospitalized, came forward regarding the alleged incident. His bail was set at $200,000, after which Pete Carroll, the then coach of the USC Trojans, released a statement saying:
"We’re just hearing about this. We’ll cooperate fully and do whatever we can to assist. At this point, this is being handled by the university’s student affairs office and we’ll follow along with whatever action the university takes.”
Just two months later in June 2006, the charges against Mark Sanchez, who is now married to actress Perry Mattfield were dropped after authorities decided that there was "a lack of sufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.” A statment was later released by a representative of Sanchez who claimed that the football player was being wrongly accused. They said:
"[He is being] falsely accused of assault, [therefore] the District Attorney’s office conducted a full investigation with Mark’s complete cooperation and the claim was rejected.”
Mark Sanchez, who was previously slated to analyze the Sunday night game between the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders, has not yet released a statement regarding the recent incident on Friday night.
