Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart share two daughters, Billie Beatrice and Georgia Geraldine. It was Georgia, the younger of the two, who recently saved her father’s life during a terrifying moment in the ocean. Georgia saved her father and pulled him out of the water after he realised he couldn't swim anymore.

Dane, who recently spoke with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America, revealed that his ALS diagnosis has progressed to the point where his right arm is no longer functioning and his left arm is weakening as well. Despite his background as a competitive swimmer and polo player, the actor found himself powerless in the water.

He told Sawyer,

“When I jumped in the ocean that day and realized I couldn't swim [or] generate enough power to get myself back to the boat, I thought, ‘Oh, God,’ and then I realized in that moment I'm not safe in the water anymore.”

He stated that Georgia, his 13-year-old daughter, did not hesitate and dragged him back on the boat. When asked how they handled the moment afterward, Dane recalled being overwhelmed.

“I was like breaking down in tears, so I made sure she got back in the water with her friend and continued on with the snorkeling with the guide. But I was just heartbroken.”
