Days after rapper FastCash CMoney was gunned down, a video of his demise is doing the rounds online.
The budding Memphis rapper was slain in his hometown on August 9, 2025. A member of the Fast Cash Boyz collective, he was 25 years old at the time. The incident took place in a residential home, Memphis police have confirmed, per All Hip Hop, with several houses being caught in the crossfire that involved a fleet of cars.
Born Cordney Money Smith, the artist was pronounced dead at the scene, and witnesses said the gunfire came on the heels of days of escalating tension. The rapper was most known for his charged lyrics, which told the tale of his survival on the streets, struggles, and dreams of wanting more in life.
He dropped his latest single, Stars & The Moon, just this July 4. Prior to that, he released the singles Free Jay and High Off Me. Primetimer has reported that FastCash CMoney formed the Fast Cash Boyz collective with his friends, TP Stackz, Money, and C Jizzle, over a decade ago.
Everything we know about FastCash CMoney's demise
Primetimer has further reported that officers were responding to calls around midnight from the Macaulay Drive and Macaulay Cove area, though FastCash CMoney was killed in the Maritavia Street and Georgian Drive area. WREG has reported that an open investigation is currently ongoing in Frayser.
His girlfriend and the mother of his children, Kya Smith, has since taken to social media to announce his passing. Alongside a string of photos of the family, she said in an emotional statement:
"You literally was my best f**king friend !!!!! Cordney wtf am i suppose to do ? You told me you had me foreverrrr! This my everyday person. My life will never be the same. I LOVE YOU 4L"
Sherita Miller, a resident of Frayser, heard the whole ruckus:
“I hit the floor once I heard the shots, at first I was like, is that firecrackers or is that gunfire, and I was like might be gunfire, hit the floor and called 911,” she said.
She said the gunfire lasted for a few minutes and was anywhere between 60 to 100 shots. As of this writing, it is unclear why FastCash CMoney was involved in the clash, though according to Sherita, it had something to do with rap beef:
“From what I hear, this has been going on since last Friday,” said Miller. “That they’ve been back and forth shooting at each other, whoever they are. Any other time this is a very quiet neighborhood, this street is very quiet, I have great neighbors, we all look out for each other,” said Miller. “Those people who came to do that, that’s what they do, and it’s not indicative of this community.”
Kya Smith has since launched a GoFundMe to support FastCash CMoney's children, which says that his service is scheduled for today, August 12.
"C Money Smith was more than just a rapper—he was a loving father, a loyal friend, and an inspiration to many. Through his music, he told the stories of his life, his struggles, and his dreams, touching the hearts of everyone who listened. His passion for his craft and his dedication to his children were unmatched," the page says.
The page also referred to the incident as ‘senseless gun violence’. She said that the family needed money for his funeral expenses and to care for their kids, who are now ‘left to face a world without their dad’. As of this writing, $650 has been raised.
