Flaco Jiménez, who was married to Adela Jiménez, passed away on Thursday, according to the news released by his family on Facebook. According to Texas Public Records, the Grammy-winning singer, who was eighty-six years old, was surrounded by his family at the time of his death. The post read:
"It is with great sadness that we share tonight the loss of our father, Flaco Jiminez. He was surrounded by his loved ones and will be missed immensely. And a big thank you for all of the memories. His legacy will live on through his music and all of his fans. The family requests privacy during this time of sadness and grievance."
Flaco Jiménez, whose full name was Leonardo "Flaco" Jiménez, was born on March 11, 1939, into a family of musicians. He rose to fame in the 1960s, and later in 1986, he won his first Grammy for his album, "Ay Te Dejo en San Antonio," which won the Best Mexican-American/Tejano Music Performance at the Twenty-Ninth Grammy Awards.

Flaco Jiménez and his wife, Adela Jiménez, had been married for over five decades. According to a May 2017 Facebook post, Flaco shared photos of himself alongside his wife, celebrating their 48th anniversary.
The couple had eight children during their marriage. His oldest son, Leonardo Jiménez, who has four children, previously acted as his tour manager and agent. He previously spoke about taking care of his aging father, and said:
"I'm also a caregiver. I do feel a lot more responsibility ... as he's getting up there. I really enjoy every bit of it. He was always there for me when I was a kid. Now I've got to be there for him. It's something that I enjoy doing."
Talking about how he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps as a parent to his two daughters and two sons. He said:
"I want to follow in his footsteps as a father.”
According to the outlet, one of Flaco Jiménez's sons, David Jiménez, is also a musician in his own right and previously played the bass in his father's band. His daughter, Rachael Jiménez, along with her children, generally lead private lives away from the spotlight.
According to KSAT12, Leonardo Jiménez was previously investigated after he posed as a detective working with the Bexar County District Attorney's Office and used his supposed position of authority to engage in s*x with a woman. Talking about the incident, the woman said:
“I thought it was a genuine encounter. I didn’t know it was like a setup. It was a total betrayal. He said he worked for the district attorney’s office. In Bexar County. He did say that he worked under Joe Gonzales.”
According to the outlet, Leonardo Jiménez was also charged with the theft of firearms back in 2014 and was put on probation, which was terminated early after he completed his community service.
According to the San Antonio Express News, Flaco Jiménez previously owned the much-loved food truck, "Taco Jiménez," with his wife. However, it had to be shut down later due to unforeseen circumstances.
In 2020, his son, Leonardo Jiménez, and his wife, Gilda Jiménez, reopened the food truck, where he now serves munedo, among other dishes. He said:
"My wife and I decided to spend our saving to bring it back to life. There's nothing like being your own boss, and we would love to carry my parents' business name."
The exact cause of Flaco Jiménez's death has not been released, but according to reports, he was hospitalized back in January for what was described as a "medical hurdle." He is survived by his wife, children, and several grandchildren.
