Matthew Perry’s death trial has a new development. One of the many people who allegedly provided Ketamine to the late actor, Dr Salvador Plasencia, will reportedly admit guilt in the trial. The news comes almost two years after the Friends actor died of an overdose.

In medical terms, his death happened due to the "acute effects" of the dr*g. Moreover, prosecutors said a network of dr*g dealers was involved in providing the intoxicant to the late actor. One year after Matthew Perry died in 2023, five people were charged in connection with the case.

The ones who pleaded guilty were Dr Mark Chavez, Kenneth Iwamasa, and Erik Fleming. According to a report by Today, Dr Salvador Plasencia’s trial, along with Jasveen Sangha, aka the Ketamine queen, was expected to be held in the summer. Reports mention that Plasencia can face a maximum sentence of 40 years.

Sangha, however, said she was guilt-free in connection with the charges. According to the prosecutors, Jasveen Sangha used her apartment in North Hollywood as a stash house.

Upon investigation, over 80 vials of the dr*g were recovered from the apartment. Other dr*g pills were also found. US Attorney Martin Estrada, addressing a press conference in August 2024, said:

“These defendants cared more about profiting off of Mr Perry than caring for his well-being.”

Erik Fleming shared a statement with the officials, saying Jasveen Sangha supplied the dr*g only to people with celebrity status. In the past, she had reportedly attended ceremonies like the Oscars and Golden Globes.

How much did Matthew Perry allegedly pay for procuring the dr*g?

Before his death, the actor had allegedly admitted to using Ketamine for his treatment of depression. Plasencia reportedly showed Matthew Perry’s assistant how to dispense the dr*g when needed by the late actor.

Martin Estrada told the press that between September and October 2023, around 20 vials of ketamine were given to Matthew Perry in return for $55,000 in cash. Speaking about the dr*g, he said:

“Ketamine is a control substance. It has some legitimate uses, but it is also used illegally. It is used by people seeking to disassociate from reality. It can cause serious health effects serious health problems, including loss of consciousness including spikes and blood pressure and including respiratory issues that can deprive the brain of oxygen.”

Martin Estrada said that Jasveen Sangha knew her actions were harmful not just to others involved but also to Matthew Perry. She took advantage of him by repeatedly selling him ketamine.

In October 2023, she sold about 50 vials for around $1,000 in cash. She coordinated with Eric Fleming, who acted as a broker, and also with Perry's live-in assistant, Iwamasa, to supply the dr*gs.

Both she and Fleming saw it as a chance to make money off Matthew Perry, with Fleming even texting that he wouldn’t be involved unless there was profit.

Estrada mentioned that in 2019, Jasveen Sangha sold the dr*g to another person, who also lost his life the same day. The person’s family member also reached out to Sangha, saying the dr*g caused the person’s death.
