Javier Bardem, an Oscar-winning actor, has garnered attention for his latest role in the new film F1: The Movie. He got married to Penélope Cruz in 2010. In a recent interview, he revealed that she suffered from postpartum depression after giving birth to their first child.

In an interview with The New York Times, Bardem spoke about his wife's struggles with postpartum depression after giving birth to their first child, Leo. He revealed that she suffered in silence.
The Spanish actor, who usually keeps his life private, said that he was ill-prepared to comprehend Cruz's situation at the time. He told The New York Times:
"The pregnancy wasn't so bad, it was the depression afterward. She wasn't able to express it, and it was very new for her."
Javier Bardem also added on how she's doing currently:
"She's better now, but 14 years ago (14 años), she asked herself: Is it okay to share this with my husband? Is it okay to feel this way when I'm supposed to feel the opposite?"
It took him years to understand the depth of her inner anguish, he continued:
"Unfortunately, I couldn't understand the magnitude of what it was, but later, I understood. She's an unbelievable, brave, strong, and beautiful woman, and she was able to share it."
Penélope and Javier Bardem met a long time ago, but it wasn't until the filming of Woody Allen's 2008 film Vicky Cristina Barcelona that they fell in love. Two years later, they tied the knot, and in January 2011, their first child, Leo, was born. This was followed by a daughter named Luna, who was born in July 2013.
The couple has kept their kids out of the spotlight. Cruz emphasized their dedication to protecting the family's privacy in a prior interview with The Telegraph, when she stated:
"You will never see a picture of my kids on Instagram."
Despite working in Hollywood, the couple chose to reside with their kids in Madrid.
Javier Bardem's personal struggles and upcoming film, F1: The Movie
In the same interview, Javier Bardem revealed that he, himself, suffered from depression after a break-up back then, where he remembered feeling lonely and emotionally tired. This was during the production of the film, No Country for Old Men (2007), which ended with him winning the Academy Award.
"I felt disconnected from the pleasure of life. I never reached a point where I thought dark things, but I was sad. It took me a while to get out of there."

Javier Bardem co-stars alongside Brad Pitt and Damson Idris in the movie F1: The Movie. Javier Bardem plays the role of Ruben Cervantes, a former racer and the current owner of a struggling race team, who deals with problems and has to fight against all odds in order to preserve his legacy. In the film, two underdog racers assist him in helping this struggling team win.
The film captures Formula One's unfiltered intensity in a way that has never been seen before. It was filmed at real racing events in Silverstone, Budapest, and Abu Dhabi.
Cervantes, in the film, is a man weighed down by debt who is making one last attempt at atonement. He puts his faith in a veteran driver, Brad Pitt's Sonny Hayes, to mentor and help a promising rookie, Joshua, played by Damson Idris.
Javier Bardem also mentioned in the interview that he will return for Dune 3 soon.
