Jill Jacobson, known for her roles in Star Trek and Falcon Crest, passed away at 70 after battling “a long illness”, according to her publicist Daniel Harary.
The actress played Vanessa in season 2 episode 12 (The Royale) in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and appeared in season 4 episode 25 (Broken Link) of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as Aroya.
Jacobson, who was felicitated with an award for volunteering with the American Cancer Society, revealed earlier this year that she successfully battled for two and a half years with a long illness.
“What I went through was pretty intense. You can’t function, you just can’t function. And now I’m so grateful, I just want to keep going, I want to help people. It makes you want to help people.” She shared on The Jim Masters Show.
Her death was reportedly confirmed by Harary, who stated that she died on December 8, 2024 at Cedars-Sinai's Culver West Health Center in Los Angeles, California.
"Beautiful, energetic, and positive to the end, she will be deeply missed by numerous relatives, friends, and her beloved dogs Benny and Kowalski,” he added.

Jacobson’s manager Ben Padua remembered Jill Jacobson as a “beautiful” client.
"We are incredibly sad to say goodbye to our beautiful, soulful, hysterically funny, elegantly raunchy client, Jill Jacobson," he said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “Jill was a total spitfire of an actress with comedic timing straight out of a Marx Brothers' flick and Hollywood glamor right from its golden age." He concluded.
The Star Trek actress’ close friend and co-star, Caryn Richman also paid tribute to her brilliant character and said:
“Jill’s comic timing was brilliant. And her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set joyful.”

Some insight into her background and professional career
Jill Jacobson was born in Beaumont, Texas, USA. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio-TV-Film/Performance from the University of Texas in Austin. She was married to Paul Dorman and the couple has three children, according to Dorman's IMDb page.
Jacobson started her career in Hollywood in the ‘70s and made her feature film debut in the 1977 film Nurse Sherri.
She got her first major role, as Detective Erin Jones in the popular show, Falcon Crest from 1985-87. The show aired on CBS and focused on the wealthy Gioberti and Channing families involved in the wine industry.
The actress also featured as Larue Wilson on The New Gidget from 1986 to 1987. Her other credits include Who’s the Boss?, Hung, Falcon Crest, Castle, Days of Our Lives, Quantum Leap, and Murphy Brown.
An eccentric personality, Larue Wilson was also known for her work outside of the industry, especially when she volunteered with the American Cancer Society.
