Jimmy Kimmel recently reached a personal milestone as his eldest daughter, Katie Kimmel, and her husband, Will Logsdon, gave birth to his grandchild. The host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to his late-night show on May 20 after taking a day off to commemorate the birth of his first granddaughter.

The news has raised plenty of curiosity about his artistic daughter, who mostly lives a private life away from the Hollywood scene.

Katie Kimmel, 33, is a visual artist and ceramist from California. She is best known for her quirky sculptures that incorporate animals, especially dogs. She often works on ceramics, textiles, and home products.

Katie graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015. Since 2017, she has been working as a full-time artist. She sells her artworks on the website katiekimmel.com. Katie, till recently, lived in a remote desert town and has now moved to Los Angeles.

"When I left L.A. to move to the California desert that was more of a shock than my career choices. But I’m back in L.A. now, so everybody’s happy." She told Variety in an interview.

She started the company Souvenir of the Sunday, a pop-up art studio and showroom at Row DTLA. The space showcases her work alongside that of other rising and well-known artists and designers, mixing art, fashion, and society in an immersive environment.

Even though Katie Kimmel is the daughter of a well-known late-night host, she has mostly forged her own career path far removed from her father’s celebrity bubble.

In interviews, she has discussed how her parents, Jimmy Kimmel and his ex-wife, Gina Maddy, were in full support of her decision to take an artistic path. Katie joked that her father is also talented, saying he can draw well and doodles on restaurant napkins.

"My dad is a really great artist. He illustrated a children’s book, ‘The Serious Goose,’ and does a lot of illustration stuff privately. And if there’s paper on a table at a restaurant, that’s always a lot of fun." She told Variety.

According to Katie Kimmel’s website bio, ever since she adopted her first dog, Pony, in 2016, Katie has been obsessed with dogs. This fixation acts as the inspiration for much of her art, which extends to dog-themed sculptures, home goods, and apparel.

Jimmy Kimmel was pleased with the recent birth of Katie and Will’s daughter Patti Joan, who was also named after his mother. He joked regarding the name in his monologue and said:

"Her name, they gave her a very cute name. Her name is Melania. It’s Melanie Thee Stallion…her name is Patti. Like the melt, but with an ‘I’ not a ‘Y.'"

Jimmy Kimmel also addressed the fact that he had to abandon yesterday's show due to his granddaughter's birth, which happened at the same time.

"You know, we were supposed to have a show last night, but we didn’t because my daughter had a baby last night." He said.

Katie Kimmel and Will Logsdon got married in a vibrant ceremony in September 2020. The event was attended by their friends and family and also included decorations and cake toppings influenced by their dogs.
