Rosemary Candy, who is also known by her maiden name, Rosemary Margaret Harbor, met John Candy in the late 1960s, long before his big break in the 1980s. Not much is known about their private lives, but the couple met on a blind date, after which they bonded, and later the Emmy-winning actor asked Harbor to help him type a script.

The couple soon began dating and tied the knot in 1979, after which they welcomed two children. Their first child, Jennifer Candy, was born in February 1980, and four years later, in 1984, they welcomed their son, Christopher Candy. All three of them were present at the premiere of the documentary at the Toronto Film Festival.

In a 2016 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, their two children opened up about their parents' relationship and how they first met. Jennifer Candy said:

"They met on a blind date. They went out on a date and enjoyed each other, and then my dad reached out to Mom asking if she could help him type out a script.”

Christopher Candy further added:

"It's just not her thing. My father was the one who was in front of the cameras."

According to Closer Magazine, Rosemary Candy, who was born on August 30, 1949, attended the Ontario College of Art. She later took additional courses at the Clayhouse Studio in Santa Monica and the Brentwood Art Center. According to her website, Rosemary Candy currently works as an artist in Los Angeles. "My paintings are with acrylic paint or oils. All are on stretched canvas. Lately I have been painting on linen with oils. My drawings and photography are from my garden. Both relaxing and inspirational. In ceramics I work with stoneware and porcelain clay bodies. For functional wares I test my glazes at Brandy Science Laboratory."

The documentary, John Candy: I Like Me, is to premiere on Amazon Prime next month, on October 10.
