Opera singer Jubilant Sykes is no more. He was found dead in his LA home on December 8, TMZ reports. His son, Micah, was taken into custody. Police officials mentioned that they received a call from a person who claimed that there was an “assault in progress” on the day.

They found Jubilant Sykes in a critical condition with injuries resulting from stabbing. An official update from the Santa Monica Police Department says:

“The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. The suspect will be booked for homicide, and the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.”

The Santa Monica Police Forensics team took pictures and collected evidence from the scene. At the time, Micah was present and he was apprehended. He reportedly had a difficult time with mental health issues. A bail of $2 million has been set for his release. The media outlet mentions that LA prosecutors will take over the case. Speaking to ABC7, one of Jubilant Sykes’ neighbors said:

“Walked over, saw the crime tape and knew something big had happened. The coroner was here and just a very quiet neighborhood. It's very scary. Heard it was a domestic dispute, but it's just sad when that happens around the holidays, but the suspect's in custody, so not too worried anymore.”

Jubilant Sykes and his wife, Cecelia, shared three children. Reports mention that Sykes had known his wife since he was three years old.

Jubilant Sykes once talked about God and what he believed in life

In an old interview with Together LA, Jubilant Sykes was asked how he liked to serve his city through his performance and artistic abilities. According to him, it had a lot to do with his commitment to Jesus Christ. Sharing his thoughts about God, he said:

“Being first and foremost true to him so that I'm not feeling like I'm compromising myself to fit in but yet loving people as I would want to be loved so not dividing it up in any way. I'm broken we are all broken as you said, so living in the truth of that and the power that I am still and greatly loved by the Living God.”

He went on to say:

“I love LA. If I can be true to God and true to my calling not even as an artist not even only as a man but just as a human being, being true to what God is calling me to be, then I think I will love the city well. I will love me well. I love God.”

Jubilant Sykes said that with age, one could realize that there was no secular-sacred. It’s all about being honest and leading an authentic life. In the process, one makes errors, takes bad calls, but despite that, they continue on the path of life.
