Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy welcomed his first baby with his fiancée, Katya Kuropas, on September 12.

The couple shared the news of their baby boy's birth on social media via a heartwarming post on Instagram.

Katya Kuropas is an Instagram model and social media personality. She had around 120,000 followers on Instagram and has been dating McCarthy for around 6 years now.

"Welcome to the world Rome Micah McCarthy. The sweetest, most perfect gift from God!! We are so unbelievably blessed to be your parents 8.7lb 21 in.." read the caption of the Instagram.

J.J. McCarthy commented on the post as he welcomed his child and praised his wife. In two separate comments, he wrote,

"God is Great."

"& so are you my love @katyakuropas

In May this year, the engaged pair announced on Instagram that they were expecting their first child together.

"The best surprises come when you least expect them. Our sweet baby boy is arriving in September and we couldn’t be happier." the caption read.

According to ESPN, Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell revealed that McCarthy attended meetings on Thursday before departing to visit his fiancée.

"If you seeing this now, congratulations my boy, congratulations. I'm excited for him for this new chapter, this new journey. But after you get done, come on back!" According to the publication, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson made a statement following Thursday's practice that seemed to be directed at McCarthy.

Born on January 28, 2003, Katya Kuropas and J.J. McCarthy have been dating for over six years now. Recently, the couple welcomed their first child together after sharing this happy announcement in May 2025.
