Who is Kenan Thompson’s ex-wife? Chris Redd recalls dating SNL co-star’s former partner Christina Evangeline

Chris Redd, who rose to fame after starring on Saturday Night Live, recently talked about the time he fell in love with Kenan Thompson's former wife, Christina Evangeline, according to People.

The 40-year-old stand-up comedian turned actor, who has starred in movies such as Scare Me and Bust Down, took to Instagram and posted a video in which he shared insights into his New Year's resolution and also talked about his side of the story regarding falling in love with his friend, Thompson's ex-wife, Evangeline, on January 6, 2026.

Chris Redd, who gained significant fame following his appearance on SNL, eventually transitioned to acting in movies. The Candy Cane Lane actor began his Instagram video by talking about his New Year's resolution, and said:

“I’m not really one for resolutions or nothing like that, but I do have one. That I’m gonna be leading with a lot more vulnerability and openness."

While talking about his relationship with Christina Evangeline, Chris Redd said:

"So I wanted to address something that’s kind of been around for a long time, ‘bout four, five years now, but you know, I’ve never addressed it. I know a lot of people talk about me dating Kenan Thompson’s ex-wife [Christina Evangeline] and how that came to be. I'ma just tell it to you straight" Adding that there "wasn't no plan."

Christina Evangeline, who was married to Kenan Thompson, the Fat Albert actor and a prominent SNL cast member, for eleven years, split in 2022 after Thompson filed for a divorce, according to TMZ, as cited by Entertainment Now. Thompson and Evangeline have two daughters, Gianna and Georgia. According to Entertainment Now, Christina, who is originally from Canada, is a model and interior designer. Not to mention, she has also been an actress and starred in a short film, Mini Supreme.

However, in his recent Instagram video, Chris Redd, while mentioning the online comments he received regarding his relationship with Christina Evangeline, said:

"Every single thing that everybody said, I saw it, and bottom line is, I’m not that type of person to scheme on a person. I’m not the type of person to even date somebody that like, one of my homies has dated. This is a very unique, nuanced thing that happened."

Chris Redd went ahead and said:

"We were all cool. There was never nothing crazy until it got crazy."

Chris Redd claims he fell for Christina Evangeline during a difficult phase in his life

Chris Redd, during his long Instagram video posted on January 6, claimed that when he fell in love with Christina Evangeline, he was going through a tough phase. Chris Redd also talked about how he was consuming some pills and was having issues with them. He said:

"Bottom line is while I was at the show, I had some pill issues. I had some pill problems, nothing too crazy but crazy for my Black a--. I was even selling some to people, some of my castmates."

He continued:

"I would have panic attacks, [and people] wouldn’t be concerned about me or nothing, would just talk s---. And it was crazy how somebody would watch you destroy yourself."

While mentioning how Christina Evangeline was the only person who helped him during his pill problems, Chris Redd said:

"She helped me with my therapy journey and she told me things about her life that made me look at a lot of people involved differently. And in that time, we fell in love."

Redd, while talking about how the whole thing was making him feel bad, said:

"I really loved everything me and Kenan did. I really appreciated every piece of work that we put together. I think that we were a great team. And I hate doing something to somebody that I know would hurt them.

He added:

"I don’t feel player for this s--- at all. But I did choose love."

While talking about the whole matter in his Instagram video, Redd became emotional as he wiped his tears.
