Who was Kenny Chesney married to? Relationships explored as singer denies Grace Potter hookup

Kenny Chesney has denied being involved with his longtime collaborator Grace Potter. The two first collaborated on their 2010 song Tequila And You, with rumors first spinning about the chemistry the two shared.

In his memoir Heart Life Music released on November 4, Chesney talks about their equation and the music video that started the talk:

“We spent two days in Malibu, rolling around the canyons, seeing the cliffs and the ocean, drinking tequila and talking about life, love, what you dream and how hard it can be getting there.”

He further elaborates:

“Anyone who’s ever seen that video assumes we were having s*x. Even Mom thought we were sleeping together, but that wasn’t true. That chemistry comes from our gypsy souls, our desire to chase music where it takes us and disappear into places we can be still.”

Kenny also mentioned how easily the two hit it off at the studio:

“I looked up at the sky and exhaled. I knew we were aligned. She sounded like coming home.”

Chesney has been linked with many women in the past but has only been married once, to actress Renee Zellweger.

Regarded as one of the country's leading country stars, Kenny Chesney has kept his personal life mostly under the wraps. Other than his high-profile marriage to actress Renee Zellweger, Chesney's dating history is mostly obscure.

Chesney and Zellweger's paths first crossed in 2005 at NBC’s Concert of Hope, a tsunami aid telethon, and within months the two were married in a quaint ceremony in St. John. As per a PEOPLE Magazine, a source close to the couple said:

“When she met Kenny, she knew. She said she didn’t want to wait to find out if it was right. She knew right (then).”

The couple unfortunately separated less than 6 months after their wedding in 2005 and eventually headed towards annulment later that year. Chesney even opened up about the split to Oprah. He said:

“A sweet soul, no doubt about it, but I just wasn’t ready. This is the first time I’ve actually talked about it, but that’s what happened...”

Kenny has famously boasted about his 'body count'. In a 2009 interview with Playboy, he exclaims that he has 'slept with over 100 women':

“I was over 100 several years ago. I can’t believe I’m actually saying this on the record. That was probably back in 2001. I had a good time in college, I really did. My first few years on the road were intense because I was the guy in college who never got laid until I started playing guitar. I got on the boards quite often. From 1993 until 1998, those five years were a blur."

When adressing the public speculation about his 's*xuality', Kenny Chesney said:

“It’s not true. Period. No I’m not (gay), but I didn’t want to draw any more attention to it. I didn’t have to prove to anybody that I wasn’t. I didn’t feel like I really did.”
