Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner is announcing his engagement to Lana Sutton.

Lana Sutton is a retired teacher. Per Swooon, she also partly owned Neverend Productions, a video production company.

Back in April, Gerry Turner told TMZ that he was seeing someone and later revealed that person to be Lana Sutton. Within days, he confirmed the relationship publicly, sharing cheerful photos from their Charleston trip.

Gerry Turner announced his engagement on October 3. He shared the update with his fans on Instagram.

“We’ve got BIG news. The Golden Bachelor is OFF the market. I found my perfect match and she said ‘YES’. I Love this woman,” Gerry wrote in the caption.

Lana Sutton shared her own excitement online with a heartfelt post.

“BIG announcement……we’re ENGAGED! The Golden Bachelor Season 1 led me to the man of my dreams…..Gerry Turner!!! I love you, Babe, more than I ever thought possible! We are perfect together! I am so proud of US as a couple,” she wrote.

The couple met through social media. Lana Sutton reached out to Turner on Facebook. The Indiana native later told TMZ that he receives plenty of messages on the platform, but accepted Lana Sutton's friend request because they had mutual connections. Turner revealed that Lana Sutton had been the first to make contact, though he initially overlooked her message. When she reached out again and mentioned that she also lived in Indiana, just 20 minutes from him, his curiosity was piqued.

They soon began chatting and decided to meet in person. Their first date took place in March, and Turner admitted it was “love at first sight.” From there, things between the couple moved quickly, and before long, they were ready to make it official.

Gerry Turner shared details about relationship with Lana Sutton

Lana Sutton has already met Gerry Turner’s two daughters and several of his close friends, while Turner has spent time with some of Sutton’s children as well. Speaking on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast in mid-April, before their relationship was made public, Turner said things between them were going smoothly.

“I think, at this point, it’s going well, but I don’t want to say too much and jinx it. I’m trying to, respectfully, get to a point where there’s an acceptable amount of time from my divorce. Maybe that’s an old fashioned thought, maybe it doesn’t matter as much as I think it does, but to be respectful, I kind of want to slow roll this,” he shared.

Turner went Instagram official with Sutton on April 26, sharing a series of photos from their trip to Charleston.

“I can’t believe how many people in Charleston recognized us and wished us the best,” he captioned the post.

According to Swooon, Sutton is a mother of three: Rachel, Nate, and Jordan. She also became a grandmother for the first time in September 2024 when her daughter Rachel and son-in-law Noah welcomed a baby boy, Shepherd.

“The most incredible thing happened today!” Sutton wrote on Instagram at the time.

“Rach and Noah became parents and I became a grandma to Shepherd James Patten! He is a gift from God who is loved beyond measure already! Truly blessed!” she added.

Sutton was previously married to Robert Sutton, whom she reportedly divorced in 2007.

Gerry Turner reflects on his split from Theresa Nist

Gerry Turner opened up about his most difficult year yet in a December 2024 People Magazine interview, where he discussed both his divorce from Theresa Nist and his battle with cancer.

The Golden Bachelor alum, who joined the interview via Zoom, reflected on how quickly life had changed since the cameras stopped rolling. Turner and Nist had fallen in love on the first season of the ABC series, getting engaged in the finale in November 2023 and sharing vows just two months later in a live wedding special.

By April 2024, however, the couple announced their split during a joint Good Morning America appearance. Turner filed for divorce that same day. The two cited distance as the main reason; Turner lived several states away, and neither wanted to move away from their families.

Turner revealed there had been more behind their breakup.

“As Theresa and I were trying very hard to find our lifestyle and where we were going to live and how we were going to make our life work, I was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer,” he shared.

The diagnosis came after Turner sought treatment for a shoulder injury he’d sustained years earlier while teaching a pickleball class.

“Finally I got around to going [to the doctor] and the orthopedic surgeon said, 'Yeah Gerry, there's not much we can do for your shoulder, but there are some unusual blood markers here,’” he recalled.

That led him from one doctor to another, and eventually to a hematology-oncology team in Fort Wayne. The tests confirmed he had Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, a slow-developing bone marrow cancer.

“Unfortunately, there's no cure for it, so that weighs heavily in every decision I make. It was like 10 tons of concrete were just dropped on me. And I was a bit in denial for a while, I didn't want to admit to it,” he shared.
