Late gospel singer Vanessa Knowles' daughter, Lisa Knowles-Smith, is married to Marcus Smith, as per her Facebook posts. Her mother, Vanessa Knowles, passed away on September 28 from a car accident.

On September 28, 45-year-old Richard Holden from Louisiana became attentive to the slow-moving traffic on I-55, causing his tractor-trailer to crash into the rear end of a Toyota Camry, which then collided with another vehicle. The crash caused eight vehicles to hit one after another.

Three people, including Vanessa, Donnie Briggs, and Darla Parris, were killed in the crash, and five other people were reportedly injured, with two being seriously injured. Holden is currently held in the Jefferson County Jail and was booked for three counts of involuntary manslaughter.

Lisa Knowles-Smith's mother, Vanessa, was the founding member of the gospel quartet, The Brown Singers. Lisa took to Instagram to pay a tribute to her mother and announce her death, saying,

"With deep sadness, I share this. I've seen the texts and calls, and we truly appreciate every message of love and support. Please continue to keep our family lifted in prayer during this difficult time. Thank you @rolandjack @jpdeisngsat"
