Livia Giuggioli has torn up the MBE certificate awarded to her by the late Queen Elizabeth in protest of President Trump's latest visit with King Charles.
The eco-fashion campaigner, 56, said she returned her MBE to St James's Palace in a new video on social media. Visibly furious, she called King Charles' meeting with Trump Britain's 'appeasement' of him. Livia was awarded the medal for her contributions to the fashion industry six years ago.
'Because I can't reconcile those two positions, I have shredded my honour and I am returning it to sender,' she wrote in her letter to the Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood.
Livia Giuggioli, an Italian-born campaigner and filmmaker, was previously married to the Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth. The two were married for 22 years until they parted ways in 2019. She is most known for being a pioneer in the field of ethical fashion with her Green Carpet Challenge initiative, which dressed A-listers like Meryl Streep and Emma Watson at major awards ceremonies.
She is also the co-founder of Eco-Age, a consultancy that focuses on sustainable efforts for luxury brands. Furthermore, Livia Giuggioli is most known for having worked with the United Nations on workers' rights and producing documents that exposed unethical fashion practices within the industry.

In her post on social media, Livia Giuggioli voiced her grievances against what she called a "frightening and cowardly display of appeasement" towards Trump.
“In 2019 I was given this MBE honour for my services in trying to make the fashion supply chain a more just and less deadly place to work for garment workers across the world. Although I stand against the British Empire and remnants of that toxic system, I accepted the honour on behalf of the many garment worker activists who had educated and supported me. I also had great respect for King Charles, who was then the Prince of Wales, and his decades battling on behalf of social and environmental justice," she penned.
She continued,
"As I write this, we see that horrible excuse of a human (called Trump) in full flow at the UN General Assembly, his poisonous rethoric amplified and legitimized. I have been reflecting on his visit to the UK last week and I am afraid I can’t reconcile the way he was appeased and honoured and, again, legitimized. In fact, last week’s display showed me nothing of those values I thought King Charles upheld - or its spirit. Rather, a frightening and cowardly display of appeasing someone who stands for the obliteration of the natural world and the most vulnerable people on earth."
After revealing that she returned her certificate to its sender, she continued in her post:
"I know so many honourable, decent British people who will be unable to reconcile their deeply held values of fairness and justice with the grotesque pantomime we witnessed. I think it’s only by taking a stand that we can make our feelings known."
Mirror has reported that Trump was in the UK just last week, where he met with King Charles, Prince William, and Katherine, the Princess of Wales. He was reportedly greeted with a military guard welcome and a horse-drawn carriage ride to Windsor Castle.
Furthermore, he was privy to a carefully crafted exhibition of historical artefacts related to US history and was even shown around Chequers' Churchill archive.
As for Livia Giuggioli's ex-husband, Colin Firth, he was reportedly appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) back in 2011, in the Birthday Honours for his contributions to the drama industry. She shares two sons with him, Luca, 24, and Matteo, 22.
