Actress Lynn Hamilton, who was married to playwright Frank Jenkins until he died in 2014, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, at the age of 95. According to Variety, the news of her death was confirmed by her former publicist, Reverend Dr. Calvin Carson, who released a statement on Facebook, saying:

"With profound gratitude and admiration, we celebrate the extraordinary life of iconic actress Alzenia “Lynn” Hamilton-Jenkins, whose remarkable legacy continues to uplift and inspire. Her illustrious career, spanning over five decades, has left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment, motivating audiences across the globe through her work as a model, stage, film and television actress."

Lynn Hamilton rose to fame in the 1970s with her role in the iconic sitcom, "Stanford and Sons," that aired on NBC from 1972 until 1975. Apart from this, she also appeared in roles in other sitcoms and movies like "The Golden Girls," "Shadows," "Generations," "Buck and Preacher," "The Waltons," "Roots: The Next Generation," "Leadbelly," and "Port Charles," among others.

Lynn Hamilton, who was born on April 25, 1930, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, later moved to New York in 1956, where she starred in several theatre productions before making her TV debut.

While working in theatre, she met playwright Frank Jenkins, and later married him in 1966. Frank Jenkins, who was born in Seattle on April 11, 1925, to parents Frank Jenkins and Gladys Shockley, authored books like "From Behind My Eyes" and "I Didn't Start Out to be a Poet" among several others.

According to ABC7, the couple often collaborated on different projects, including theatre productions like "The Bert Williams Story" and "Nobody." Apart from this, they also collaborated on the play, "Driving While Black in Beverly Hills," which was written by Jenkins and featured Hamilton in her directorial debut, according to Variety.

The couple, who were married for 48 years until Frank Jenkins' death at the age of 89 in 2014, were parents to two children, Frank A. Jenkins and Denise S. Jenkins. According to KLTA5, Lynn Hamilton, who was the recipient of the NAACP Award, was last credited for her work in the documentary, "Beah: A Black Woman Speaks, where she reflected on the career of actress and playwright Beah Richards.

Lynn Hamilton, who is survived by her children and grandchildren, died of natural causes and was surrounded by her extended family members at the time of her death.
