National Football League star Marshawn Kneeland, who played two seasons as a defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys, passed away on November 6, 2025, in Frisco, Texas. According to US Weekly, Marshawn, who was 24 years old, violated traffic laws on November 5, 2025. Then, after that, he was pursued by the police as he kept driving his car and did not stop. Eventually, he ended up crashing his car, and as per the authorities, he got away from the scene on foot.
Marshawn Kneeland, who, before playing in the NFL, played college football for the Western Michigan Broncos, was found deceased at 1:30 am on November 6, 2025. While the investigation into the cause of his death is still in progress, a reported gunshot wound was found, which appeared to be self-inflicted, as per ESPN. Marshawn's team, the Dallas Cowboys, released an official statement, which read:
"It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning. Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."
Following the young footballer's death, sports enthusiasts want to learn who Marshawn Kneeland's father is. According to his LinkedIn profile, Marshawn's father, Shawn Kneeland, is a professional mover who works at Northern American Moving.
As per US Weekly, Shawn was in prison at the time of his son's death. He was guilty of carrying a hidden gun and trying to use it. As per the Michigan Department of Corrections and the US Magazine, besides carrying a firearm, Shawn tampered with evidence as well.

The Kneeland family also released a statement on November 6, 2025, regarding his untimely death. His family took to Facebook and shared a post which read:
"The Kneeland family can confirm the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Marshawn Kneeland. We are devasted by this tremendous loss and are still processing the depth of our grief. As Marshawn was making his mark on the football field with the Dallas Cowboys, he held an even more special place off the field - as a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, grandson, and friend."
The statement further added:
"He was kind, determined, humble, and full of love. His light shone brightly in every life he touched, and his spirit will continue to live on through the countless hearts he inspired. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from his friends, fans, and the community. During this difficult time, we ask for privacy as we come together as a family to honor and remember Marshawn's life and legacy."
Marshawn Kneeland is survived by his sister, Yahmya, and two brothers, Shawn Jr and AJ, and his father, who is held at Michigan's Newberry Correctional Facility. His mother, Wendy, passed away in February 2024 due to an unknown illness.
