Melora Hardin had stunned TV audiences with her performance as Jan Levinson on The Office. And as fate would have it, she ended up meeting the love of her life at her workplace. As per a report shared by People, Melora Hardin met her husband Gildart Jackson at a wrap party she attended years ago.

“That was kind of an office romance because sets are my office,” Hardin explained.

Hardin tied the knot with the English actor and writer in 1997 and now shares two daughters (Rory and Piper) with him. Working together suited the couple, as they’ve previously shared the screen for You (2009) and The Bold Type. She shared the joy she felt working with Gildart Jackson in a report shared by 9Entertainment.

"It couldn't have been better casting. It's always a joy to work with someone that you know as well as we know each other. We've been married almost 23 years now and we've known each other for 36 years. So we definitely know each other really, really well. And there's nothing better than working with someone that's your main man, your main fan, your main support system," explained Hardin.

Melora Hardin has made headlines recently, as she shared her story of being fired from Back to the Future.

Melora Hardin isn’t new to show business; she’s been acting since she was 11 years old and is the daughter of actors Jerry Hardin and Diane Hardin (formerly Hill). And although she’s earned multiple accolades along the way, from being an Emmy Award-nominee to being a SAG Award-winning actress, her career hasn’t been all roses.

In a new interview shared by Entertainment Weekly on Monday, December 22, the actress opens up about being fired from Back to the Future. She had already shot weeks of footage as Marty McFly’s love interest before being replaced.

“Back to the Future was a huge disappointment. I was 17, you know. I burst into tears, It was very sad. There were quite a few of those that I remember, you know, things that never really got made. But that I remember being very tough,” shared Hardin.

Melora Hardin revealed that she was replaced after Eric Stoltz’s Marty was replaced by Michael J. Fox. The actress also revealed that her height played a role in being replaced for the 1985 science-fiction film.

“It was apparently the two female executives at the time that thought that it was emasculating for their lead male character to be in scenes with a woman that was taller than him,” she shared.

Melora Hardin, however, chose to see the whole ordeal positively and shared that,

“If I had done it, I’m sure it would have all gone in a different way. I wouldn’t have done The Office,” she explained.

Hardin also explained that it’s essential to have “failed more than you’ve succeeded” in order to get where she is in the industry.

“I think people don’t realize that when they look at it from the outside — you have to really be somebody who’s comfortable with failure, and with putting yourself on the line all the time, that failure doesn’t mean anything about you. You just have to fail better, and keep failing better … to be able to really weather this career choice,” she shared.

Hardin always took her work seriously, but that meant spending a lot of time away from her family. However, she got an opportunity to get close with her family during the COVID-19 pandemic. She shared about the same in her interview with 9Entertainment.

"To be honest, I'm kind of enjoying being absolutely trapped with my family and that my family and my two teenage daughters, who are very social, are completely trapped with me, so we get excellent family time and I'm kind of enjoying it, to be honest."

She shared a sweet memory about her daughter Rory, who was 18 years old back then.

"My 18-year-old daughter just said the other night at dinner, 'We're really lucky that we actually like each other because we know a lot of families that don't.' And I thought, 'That's about the nicest thing you can hear from an 18-year-old daughter'," shared Hardin.

She appreciated not only her daughters but also her parents, actor Jerry Hardin (The X-Files) and acting coach Diane Hardin, in the interview. Melora Hardin emphasizes that it was her parents’ guidance that helped her navigate show business.

"Both my parents are actors and my mother was a very well-known acting coach. She ended up teaching the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessica Biel, River Phoenix and Joaquin Phoenix, and all those Phoenix kids," shared Hardin.
"So I think that was an incredible starting point to have the benefit of two parents that really understand the craft of acting and really instilled that in me and, I think, appreciate the art of acting above everything else. I think a pretty great starting ground. And I would say for sure, besides being my parents, they were definitely my mentors," she added.
