The Jimmy Kimmel Live! house band since the show started in 2003 is Cleto and the Cletones. Under the direction of Cleto Escobedo III, the band has made a significant contribution to the sound and spirit of the show.
The bandleader recently passed away in November 2025 at the age of 59, and was also a good friend of Jimmy Kimmel. When Kimmel started hosting the ABC show, he insisted that Escobedo III lead the in house band on the national television.
The band has continued to play live music, comedy skits, and worked with numerous superstar musicians over two decades. Their contributions did not just end there, but they have assisted in making the show memorable with their music.
Cleto and the Cletones' band members and their roles
The band consists of a team of talented musicians. Escobedo III served as bandleader, saxophone player and singer. Cleto Escobedo Jr., his father, is also part of the band as a saxophone player.
Other members are Jeff Babko on keyboards and trombone, Toshi Yanagi on guitar, Jimmy Earl on bass and Jonathan Dresel on drums. Together they formed a professional band capable of playing variety of music.
