While the 2026 Golden Globe Awards took place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 11, 2026, a joke cracked by host Nikki Gaser about Michael B. Jordan caught the attention of netizens after the Just Mercy actor's mother, Donna Jordan, was seen rolling her eyes at Glaser's NSFW joke, according to The US Sun.

Donna Jordan's reaction to the comedian-turned-actress Nikki Glaser's joke about her son, Michael, went viral on social media as she appeared to look a bit irritated. Nikki Glaser, who is also a reality TV star, began the show with her opening monologue, which included jokes about the late Jeffrey Epstein and his client list, and eventually cracked a joke about the Creed actor, Michael B. Jordan.

Glaser's joke was in reference to Michael's movie Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, in which he played twins, Smoke and Stack. Nikki said:

"I can't belive it, we got two Michael B. Jordans."

She continued and said:

"When I saw that, I was like, Nikki B. Jerkin', because that was awesome."

As per The US Sun, while Nikki's joke gained quite a few laughs as the audience enjoyed it, Michael's mother, Donna, was not quite impressed with the joke; on the contrary, she sat there unimpressed and was seen rolling her eyes. However, Glaser was quick enough to understand that her joke was inappropriate, realizing that Michael's mother, Donna, was present there. Nikki then said:

"I'm so sorry. That should've been a DM."

Michael B. Jordan's mother, Donna Jordan, who he brings to different award shows quite often, was a guidance counselor and teacher by profession at the Creed actor's school, according to People Magazine. His father, Michael A. Jordan, worked at John F. Kennedy Airport as a supervisor and later started a catering business.

As per People Magazine, it was Donna Jordan who should be credited for Michael B. Jordan's acting career, as she was the one who got him into modeling, which eventually led him to act in movies.

According to the outlet, Donna told Vanity Fair:

"I was just at the time thinking about college tuition and that sort of thing. Little did I know that it was going to be job, after job, after job, after job."

While Michael, in an interview with HuffPost, said:

"My mom got me started on lots of things and it just snowballed. … I just started booking at a really young age; little small modeling jobs, to extra work, to background, to little commercials. And then I booked [Cosby] and The Sopranos and just kept going. I fell in love with it when I was probably around 14. It was the first time I really lost myself in a character and I was like, ‘Wow what is that feeling? Is that what acting is?’"

Michael B. Jordan was nominated in the Best Actor (Drama) category at the 2026 Golden Globes.
