Actor Michael Pitt has been arrested by the police on Friday on charges of sexual assault. According to the New York Post, the charges have been filed by his ex girlfriend, who has accused him of domestic violence and sexual assault on "four separate occasions." It has yet to be revealed which ex girlfriend of The Dreamers actor, has made the accusations, although he has previously been known to have dated the likes of Asia Argento, Jamie Bochert and others.

Michael Pitt has vehemently denied the charges, and pleaded not guilty when he was presented to the Brooklyn Supreme Court. Pitt was later released by the police after he posted the bail set at $100,000. Later, in a statement released to the New York Post, his lawyer Cary London, said:

"Unfortunately, we live in a world where somebody like Mr. Pitt — an accomplished professional who would never so much as contemplate these crimes — can be arrested on the uncorroborated word of an unhinged individual. We look forward to proving his innocence through the evidence and not through the media."

Michael Pitt, who is known for his role in the TV series Boardwalk Empire, was reported to have dated actress Asia Argento back in the early 2000s. The former couple allegedly met on the set of their 2004 movie, "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things," and were engaged after just a few months of dating. However, it was later reported that the pair had ended their engagement.

After this the "Dawson's Creek" actor was reported to be dating Jamie Bochert. The exact timeline of when the couple started dating is not known, but they were engaged untill their separation in 2014. The couple, who are also musicians, were reported to have often played together on several occasions.

Michael Pitt was also linked to actress Eva Green, whom he met while shooting their movie, "The Dreamers," but neither confirmed their alleged relationship. He was also rumored to have been in an on-and-off relationship with Alexis Dzeina, but this was also not confirmed by either party.

Michael Pitt's arrest last Friday, is not his first run in with the law. According to Newsweek, in July 2022, he was arrested for assault and petty larceny for allegedly hitting a man repeatedly. Just two months later, in September, according to The Daily Mail, he had a public meltdown wherein he was seen throwing things from the roof of a building in Brunswick, New York. This prompted people to call emergency services, and he was later seen being taken away in a stretcher while strapped down. He was not charged for the disruptive incident.

Apart from this, Michael Pitt is reported to have exhibited a history of difficult behavior on set, with various outlets reporting that his character was allegedly written out of Boardwalk Empire, due to allegations of difficult behavior.

According to TMZ, after Michael Pitt's arrest on Friday, he has been charged with several charges, including two counts of first degree sexual abuse and two counts of second degree attempted assualt, among other charges. The incidents are said to have allegedly taken place between April 2020, and August 2021.

The charges state that the "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" actor attempted to forcibly fondle his then partner, and later allegedly sexually assaulted her, and also hit her with a piece of wood. He is also reported to have strangled her on another occasion. Michael Pitt, who is out on bail, is set to appear in court on 17 June.
