Miriam Margolyes played the role of Professor Pomona Sprout in the Harry Potter film series. The 84-year-old actress, while speaking at Cheltenham Literature Festival, said that she turned down the opportunity to star in The Celebrity Traitors.
While revealing the reason behind turning down the job, Miriam Margolyes said,
"I was offered this job. No. Just recently and I can't think of anything I'd rather less do. I'm not into that. I've never watched it, I don't intend to watch it. There is some jolly good people doing it. And if they want to do it for money, well, that's fair enough but you won't get me on it."
The Traitors is a game reality TV show where a group of contestants live in a luxurious property. The host chooses a few contestants to be the secret Traitors at the beginning of the show, who are tasked with "murdering" one of the innocent contestants each night. During the day, all the contestants come together to debate who among them could be the traitor.
In the Celebrity version of the show, stars have included comedian Alan Carr, broadcaster Jonathan Ross, actor Celia Imrie, and singer Charlotte Church.

Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes appeared at the Cheltenham Literature Festival to promote her latest book, The Little Book of Miriam, an anthology of her thoughts and stories of her long career.
Miriam Margolyes, during a March 2024 interview with New Zealand's 1News network, was asked how Harry Potter and Blackadder fans approach her when they see her in public. While commenting on the Harry Potter fandom, Margolyes said,
"I worry about Harry Potter fans because they should be over that by now. It was 25 years ago, and it's for children. I think it's for children. "
The actress was surprised to learn that those who grew up reading the book and film series are still engrossed in the Wizarding World, despite being adults.
"They get stuck in it. I do Cameos, and people say, 'We're having a Harry Potter-themed wedding, and I think, 'Gosh, what's their first night of fun going to be. I can't even think about it. No."
Miriam played the role of Professor Pomona Sprout, who taught herbology at Hogwarts and was the head of the Hufflepuff house.
After appearing in the popular franchise, Miriam bagged other roles in films like Being Julia, The Man Who Invented Christmas, My Happy Ending, and more.
