Taylor Frankie Paul, the 31-year-old mother of three and star of Hulu's The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has announced that she will be the lead for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette on Alex Cooper's podcast Call Her Daddy on 10 September 2025.
Host Alex Cooper teased Taylor Frankie Paul about her new role:
"You are on Call Her Daddy so we can officially announce that you are this season's Bachelorette. How are you feeling?"
Paul admitted the news still feels "surreal" and is "nervous":
"Surreal. It has not hit me right now in this moment. I'm just thinking about it, and it's not real. And it's not going to be until I think the limo is pulling up, you know? And meeting the people."
Paul continued:
"How did I get here? In my head I'm like, 'How is this happening?' That's my answer."
She joked that it all started as a TikTok idea three years prior and admitted that at one point the possibility had appeared "unattainable."
She added:
"I don't know if that got their attention ... It was mainly a joke to me ... Then we had a meeting. I still didn't believe it until i got the invitation, 'Will you be our Bachelorette?' Same reaction, shaking, pacing back and forth. There's no way, no way."
Alex Cooper had teased the announcement of the Bachelorette's new lead
Alex Cooper announced it on her Instagram. She posted a video which was captioned “Change of plans 🌹.” In the video that Cooper had posted, she was slicing a cake with the words "Season 30" written in blue icing. Then she asked:
“Wait, why is it pink?”
As she cut the cake. She then answers the phone:
“Hello. Hello, ABC. What can I do for you?”
She added:
“You want Call Her Daddy to announce the Next Bachelor? What do you mean it's the Bachelorette? Shut up. How did you get her to say yes? But she's never even been a part of The Bachelor. This is gonna be great for ratings. But what about the other show she's on?”
She concluded:
“We're announcing tomorrow. Let's do this.”
Taylor Frankie Paul is juggling motherhood and reality TV
Taylor Frankie Paul said that at first she was hesitant to take on the role since she is co-parenting her three children with her two ex-partners:
"How do I make this work? I'm a co-parent I have two baby daddies not one, so I'm dealing with two different people, my children, my home base is here. Can I travel that long? Can I be gone that long?"
With the help of her family and friends, she stated that she finally made the decision to make it work in spite of all the concerns she had:
"But then I'm also thinking on the side, the other two moms that are in my group [Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt] are doing Dancing with the Stars and they brought their family out, but also they have their husbands, so for me I'm like, is this possible for me to do as a single mom? Can I make it work realistically no matter how much I want this?"
She added:
"And I was like, I can, if you want to you can and it comes down to that so I was just like, I will make it work ... I can ask for help more."
She mentioned that it was "shocking" for her family at first, but "they're all excited."
Taylor Frankie Paul added that she received all "positive" feedback about the show:
"I think most of them are going to be happy for me and support me. I can't speak for everyone and what they actually truly think, you know never really know. But I think we're all kind of doing our own thing so everyone is getting their own shots, it's not just about her her her."
Her Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Journey
Taylor Frankie Paul became famous through the #MomTok community before becoming a major figure on the Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The series focused on her high-profile divorce, her previous relationship with Dakota Mortensen, with whom she had a kid, and the uproar surrounding a "soft-swinging" incident in her community.
Taylor Frankie Paul has confirmed that she would still be part of the Hulu series while appearing on The Bachelorette.
Paul would be participating in the show for the first time, in contrast to the other leads, who were part of the show. According to industry experts, ABC may be attempting to reach a wider audience than its typical fan base with this move.
In 2026, Taylor Frankie Paul will make her ABC debut on Season 22 of The Bachelorette. On November 13, 2025, Hulu will premiere the third season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
